Actalent Animal Research Technician in Stilwell, Kansas
Animal Research Technician - Paying up to $21/hr.
Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Animal Research Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will ensure the welfare and humane care of all animals through gentle and positive human-animal interactions. This role involves performing essential departmental skills, including animal handling/restraint, housing maintenance, feeding procedures, data collection, health status observation, and body weight measurements. Specific skills will be tailored to each area’s training plan and business needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure good welfare and humane care for all animals, using gentle and positive human-animal interactions.
Perform basic departmental skills, including animal handling/restraint, housing maintenance, and feeding procedures.
Collect, document, review, and verify data on forms or in electronic data capture systems.
Observe animals for health status and body weight measurements.
Review documentation of functions performed as part of quality control requirements.
Use and maintain instrumentation and equipment.
Perform all other related duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.) preferred.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities to achieve goals.
Proficiency in computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite) and the ability to learn new systems.
Ability to maintain a safe working environment by observing all safety procedures and working methods, using protective clothing and equipment, and following all safety documents.
Ability to ensure the integrity of studies and fulfill regulatory agency requirements by performing activities according to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Business Operating Procedures (BOP), and Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) rules.
Ability to work under specific time constraints.
