Akima Aircraft Mechanic II, Electrician in Topeka, Kansas

Overview

ARS is looking for an Aircraft Mechanic II, Electrician to work in Topeka, Kansas.

Diagnoses and troubleshoots malfunctions in electrical and electronic components, including solid state and transistorized subsystems. Repairs aircraft instrument systems. Apply principles of electricity/electronics, hydrostatic motion, pneumatics and hydraulics applicable to repair aircraft instrument systems. Removes, installs, repairs, adjusts and tests electrical/electronic elements of assemblies and components according to technical manuals, directives and safety procedures. Clean, preserves and stores electrical/electronic components and aircraft instruments. Remove, repair, services, installs, and troubleshoots nickel cadmium batteries. Uses and performs operator maintenance on common and special tools. Requisitions and maintains shop and bench stock for repair of aircraft electrical systems. Prepare forms and records related to aircraft maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, fuel systems, and electrical components

  • Applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions

  • Applies required expertise in restoring equipment condition and or operation

  • Applies comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as blueprints or manufactures' manuals.

Qualifications

  • Must have a thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures and replacement of parts

  • Must have basic knowledge of electrical theory

  • Must have thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, etc.

  • This job requires working knowledge of technical publications.

  • Required to make entries in aircraft logs and records.

  • Must be able to prioritize workload to maintain schedules on assigned projects.

  • Must have own tools IAW Army standards.

  • UH-60 avionics/electrical maintenance experience.

  • Able to pass T1 background check.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen
