Zurich North America is currently looking for an Analytics Data Engineer to join our Data & Analytics, Engineering team based at our North American Headquarters in Schaumburg, Illinois or virtually.
The Analytics Data Engineers are responsible for enabling data-driven decision-making through improved data flows and enhancing the suite of data and analytic tools and capabilities. The Analytics Engineering Team facilitates the development and implementation of the desired end-state analysis environment within Zurich North America’s Data and Analytics group, leveraging emerging tools and technologies, while evolving and refining standards and methodologies.
This role will be filled at either the Level I or Level II. The hiring manager will determine the appropriate level based upon the selected applicant’s experience and skillset relative to the qualifications listed for this position.
Our Analytics Data Engineers are also responsible for the following:
Transform and curate raw data into analysis-ready datasets
Partner with Data Scientists to optimize and harden code and queries and deploy data flows and trained Python models to the production environment
Work closely with the Data & Analytic and Information Technology teams to support, enhance, and upgrade the analytic tools and environment
Provide day-to-day troubleshooting and technology support for the data science environment
Basic Qualifications Analytic Data Engineer II (6T):
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or Mathematics/Statistics and 6 or more years of experience in the Data Engineering areaOR
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 8 or more years of experience in the Data Engineering areaOR
Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree in Computer Science or Mathematics/Statistics and 6 or more years of experience in the Data Engineering areaAND
5 or more of experience in Enterprise Data Engineering
Experience in scripting languages
Experience with data transformation and aggregation tools
Experience in data analysis, data interrogation or data profiling
Basic Qualifications Analytic Data Engineer I (5T):
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Mathematics/Statistics and 3 or more years of experience in the Data Engineering areaAND
Relevant STEM degree required or equivalent experience
1 or more years of experience in Enterprise Data Engineering using Hadoop technologies
Fluency in scripting language (Shell / Perl / Python / Java / etc.) required
Experience with Storm, Hive, HBase, Spark, Map Reduce, Kafka, Squoop, Flume, Tez, Pig, Oozie
Knowledge of industry standards and trends on Big Data
Experience as a SQL Developer
Experience in data interrogation and data profiling
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience in an Analytic Data Engineering role or similar
Advanced SQL, Python, and Spark knowledge and experience
Experience in data preparation for production environments
Experience with User Acceptance Testing and Regression Testing
Experience with data and analysis platforms such as Dataiku or Databricks a plus
