Facebook is seeking a Civil, Structural, Landscape, Architect experienced in the design of Critical Facilities to become part of our data center engineering team. Our Data Centers are the foundation upon which our software operates with efficient ease. The successful candidate will possess strong knowledge in Architectural, Civil, Structural and Landscape design, site planning, cooling and electrical systems and project delivery processes needed to support our growing fleet of Data Centers. Facebook applies a global design approach to our Data Center designs and the candidate will be responsible for ensuring local code compliance obligations are met, and constructibility requirements are considered and applied to our designs. The Facebook Data Center Design team endeavors to advance the global approach of Facebook Data Centers by designing best-in-class, innovative and highly sustainable hyper-scale campuses through strategic solutions. This position is full-time.

Required Skills:

  1. Technical domain lead for the Civil, Structural, Landscape and Architectural (CSLA) disciplines on new build projects

  2. Collaborate with build contractors and trade partners in collaboration with consultants to ensure proper installation and to validate quality of installed works

  3. Ongoing contribution to standards and improvements to global specifications

  4. Technical leader managing the consultants to implement global programmatic design, ensure the project meets the business goals, technical needs, and contract terms

  5. Lead projects through schematic design, design development, construction documents, and construction administrative to support the project manager during construction

  6. Tasks include but not limited to the oversight of responding to RFI’s, issuance of technical bulletins, review submittals and shop drawings, and conducting source inspections at vendor factories

  7. Travel to data center sites for project review and site walks

  8. Respond on an as-needed basis to emergencies

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Licensed Architect (RA) or Structural PE or Civil Engineer PE

  2. Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in one or more of the following disciplines: Civil, Structural, Landscape and Architectural

  3. Experience with industry standards, building codes and safety standards

  4. Experience with Office, Revit/BIM and Bluebeam

  5. Experience improving cost assessment and design through different applications

  6. Experience with cross-discipline teams to design critical facility systems

  7. Experience with project management approaches, tools and phases of the project lifecycle

  8. Experience with planning strategy and tactics

  9. Experience troubleshooting and using analytical skills to make decisions supported by data

  10. Experience with formal change management processes

  11. Fluent in English

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Minimum of 3 years of experience in mission critical facility, healthcare, laboratories, industrial or aerospace industry, design, construction, operations, and/or maintenance

  2. Owner’s representative experience

  3. PMP certification

  4. LEED accreditation
