DEI Assistant Director

Through a demonstrated in-depth knowledge of diversity, equity and inclusion/inclusiveness (DEI) principles, the role is responsible for assessing needs through both quantitative and qualitative sources, supporting the development of programs or solutions in collaboration with key stakeholders. Leads teams on strategic projects to support overall DEI firm initiatives and strategy. Effectively applies departmental management procedures and project management standards. As part of this process, manages stakeholder expectations, communications, budget management, timeline management, quality/risk management, performance reporting, etc as it relates to given projects.

Essential Functions of the Job:

  • Leverages DEI data analytics, and knowledge from internal and external resources to assess and inform the development of DEI initiatives and processes.

  • Interfaces and works collaborately with field including both region and service line DEI teams and Talent team members to co-develop and support the business on DEI related efforts.

  • Consults with business leaders, PPMDDs, the Talent organization, and EY people on the Americas DEI strategy and associated programs, intiatives and concepts.

  • Identifies and selects appropriate change management tools relative to firm-wide culture transformation as it relates to DEI.

  • Uses innovative technology and tools to support integration of DEI programs or strategies into firm-wide processes or initiatives

  • Understands and applies recognized project management standards (scope, scheduling, planning, time management, resource management, communication and cost management).

  • Creates, develops and manages scope and project plan and schedule for complex projects.

  • Evaluates and reports project/program progress in terms of quality and performance metrics appropriate to the program/project.

  • Manages and effectively delegates to project team members

  • Successfully explains difficult concepts and issues related to DEI.

Analytical/Decision Making Responsibilities:

  • Applies judgment in tailoring methodologies, processes and practices to specific requirements of programs/projects as well as business units.

  • Proactively identifies and addresses project risks and opportunities.

  • Identifies alternative solutions to meet the same project/program goals.

  • Is actively involved in external diversity conferences and organizations.

Knowledge and Skills Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of diversity, equity and inclusivess related theory and practice required, including experience in DEI dimensions of LGBT+, (Disabilities, Veterans a plus).

  • Strong data analytics skills with the ability to make correlations and connections across multiple data sources to create understanding.

  • Executive level presentation development skills

  • Strong understanding of the Firm (the business and culture)

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Organized, detail-oriented and pro-actively takes initiative

  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint and other technology such as Teams, and social media tools

  • Experience in the Talent organization a plus

  • Understanding of Equal Opportunity Employment (EEO) laws a plus

Supervision Responsibilities:

  • Receives general direction but works on projects/programs with a fair amount of independence and collaboration, work may be reviewed

  • Frequently delegates projects and tasks to project team members and/or direct reports and supervises and reviews completion of tasks.

Other Requirements:

Travel is minimal, but may be required as needed.

Job Requirements:


Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or equivalent work experience


Approximately 8+ years of related experience
