Primary Function
We are looking for a self-motivated digital producer who can make an immediate impact helping a globally recognized media brand meet its ambitious SEO goals for 2025. They will play a key role in this priority project by tactically executing the tasks assigned to them by the Senior SEO Strategist and the Manager for Digital Engagement. They will use their expertise in tools like Semrush and Google Search Console to optimize the clients vast digital catalog of published content. They will have a deep understanding of common SEO errors and how to best resolve those issues, working directly in our content management system. They will use their experience working in or alongside a newsroom or digital media company to effectively collaborate with editors and strategists within both editorial and business departments.
Duties & Responsibilities
Review and restore or redirect URLs with error pages that have backlinks.
Use editorial judgment to determine the best page to redirect error pages if restoration is not possible.
Verify and redirect broken links in SERPs to appropriate URLs.
Add SEO titles to article pages for those missing titles.
Internally link to orphaned website pages
Review and address over 1.5K broken links to ensure they are either repaired or redirected to appropriate pages.
Repair or update and redirect over 500 pages with unique broken internal links.
Redirect 100 flagged empty pages to appropriate destinations.
Locate and remove or replace malformed URLs within editorial content.
Edit duplicate content and optimize meta-data for variety.
Skills & Qualifications
Technical SEO expertise to identify and resolve issues using tools like Google Search Console and Semrush.
Expertise in understanding search fundamentals related to crawling and indexing, ranking and search appearance, and debugging drops in search traffic.
Proficiency in using Excel sheets for data analysis and reporting.
Previous experience working in journalism or in digital media publishing
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree and/or 3 years equivalent SEO work experience in a similar role within media, publishing, or a digital agency
