As Facebook establishes new fiber paths throughout North America, we’re leveraging our opportunity to operationalize excess capacity through new industry partnerships. The Network Investments team is looking for someone who is passionate about working with customers, internal partners, and other telecom industry stakeholders to drive innovative, cutting edge, and cost efficient network infrastructure. As a Fiber Delivery Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and managing outside plant processes and standardization, fiber delivery and acceptance standards, and customer network interconnection policies. The Fiber Delivery Engineer will interface with both customers and internal stakeholders to accept completed fiber networks into operations and deliver customer network obligations including fiber test results, characteristics, network diagrams and other specifications as required ensuring compliance with agreed upon standards and customer contracts. You will collaborate closely with various internal cross-functional teams to drive program execution of joint operational initiatives, and help launch and manage new processes and service offerings.
Manage fiber delivery and acceptance packages including the validation of closeout packages from project managers and handover packages to customers.
Review fiber test data to ensure compliance with internal standards and/or customer contracts including field vendor handoff packages and data exchanges.
Manage relocation process and implementation including initial impact, conflict analysis and development of field vendor scope of work as required.
Develop and manage network interconnection policies including standard process development and management of customer projects.
Ongoing change record management ensuring all network change, augment and move activities have a process and standard.
Preparing, organizing, and presenting materials for cross-functional communication within Facebook, customers and external partners.
Work cross-functionally across internal Facebook support teams to develop processes and KPI’s.
Travel required 25% of the time across North America.
BA/BS or equivalent in technical or business-related field with at least 7 years of relevant experience.
8+ years of experience working in an Outside Plant Engineering capacity in the telecommunications industry.
5+ years of experience with process and standards development for fiber optic networks.
5+ years of full cycle project or program management experience in telecommunication operations.
Experience identifying, solving, and automating outside plant (OSP) processes in a cross functional environment.
Thorough understanding of fiber life cycle for delivery and acceptance.
Knowledge of the technical aspects of fiber and fiber characteristics.
Experience reading fiber test results (OTDR, PMD, CMD).
Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Experience working with internal stakeholders and customers to manage expectations on deliverables, timelines, and milestones, etc.
Knowledge of wholesale infrastructure business and operating models.
Effective communication, presentation, and organizational skills, with experience delivering content to senior leaders.
Demonstrated experience leading OSP process automation.
Experience developing processes from ideation to implementation.
Demonstrated experience coordinating customer Dark Fiber network interconnections.
Experience defining customer interconnection policies for Dark Fiber.
Deep cross-functional experience across multiple groups with competing priorities.
