What Strategic Sourcing - Global Products contributes to Cardinal Health

Global Sourcing is responsible for creating and managing diverse strategic supplier partnerships that drive enterprise value with innovation, best cost and competitive advantages that benefit customers, suppliers and patients. Develops and executes strategic plans by leveraging market intelligence, industry knowledge and cross-functional collaboration. Competitive advantage is created through supplier selection and management, contract negotiation, supply chain optimization and risk mitigation.

Strategic Sourcing Global Products is responsible for managing a portfolio of Cardinal Brand products, raw materials, spend and suppliers. Development and execution of global sourcing strategies to achieve best total value, sustainable productivity and high levels of quality and service aligned with business objectives.

Job Summary

The Manager, Strategic Sourcing Global Products is an individual contributor that participates in the development of the strategic sourcing strategy as well as execution of the sourcing process, and all of its associated activities. This job manages the global supplier portfolio and ensures that suppliers are able to provide strategic and tactical activities for Cardinal Health’s long-term plans. The job looks cross-functionally to ensure that supply chain and financial goals are met.

The Sustainable Technologies business collects, reprocess, and recycle single-use electrocardiogram lead wires, compression sleeves, air mattresses devices, among other key patient monitoring products. This category is forecasted to growth exponentially in upcoming years and it has been identified as Core category for the business.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing raw materials and service providers for Cardinal Health global reprocessing business with a portfolio exceeding $30M/yr.

  • Global expertise in category including technical product knowledge, cost drivers, related industry dynamics and market trends.

  • Drives annual cost savings through effective strategies and negotiations. Cost savings should meet each year’s business financial needs.

  • Perform data analysis and utilize financial acumen to identify opportunities to leverage scale and drive cost savings.

  • Execution of global supply strategies to achieve best total value, sustainable productivity and high levels of quality and service aligned with business objectives.

  • Proactive leadership and management with cross-functional partners to effectively select suppliers, negotiate favorable contracts and manage supplier performance and relationships.

  • Understand Medical Devices supplier portfolio risk profiles and develop mitigation actions and plans.

  • Develops effective short- and long-term category strategies to include supply chain continuity, risk management, optimizing supplier network and attaining best cost.

  • Collaborate with and influence business partners in a highly matrixed environment to optimize key supplier performance and innovation. Influence business decisions to enter/exit product lines, drive make/buy decisions and implement supply in optimizations.

  • Facilitates Supplier Relationship Management through development and tracking of Key Performance Indicators for the category; establishes collaborative environment with key suppliers and business partners to optimize supplier performance and innovation.

Qualifications

  • BA, BS or equivalent experience in related field.

  • 8-12 years of relevant experience engineering, manufacturing and/or procurement/sourcing experience

  • Medical products experience beneficial, but not required

  • Strong project and process management to execute category supply strategy with cross functional teams.

  • Expertise with contract requirements to negotiate critical terms and conditions in line with category strategy.

  • Familiarity with manufacturing, quality and supply chain processes to support supplier selection and performance management

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; able to communicate effectively and interact with personnel at various levels of expertise on a global landscape

  • Results-oriented, strategic thinker, able to work in team environments

  • Comfortable executing business analysis. Independently develop, socialize, and execute complex projects. Projects are to be executed with sound reasoning and accuracy

  • Lean Six sigma (LSS) or related experience, preferred but not required

  • Willing to travel at least 15% for business purposes (within country and internationally).

Anticipated salary range: $102,000 -$145,700
