Oracle's Infrastructure Industries Global Business Unit is seeking experienced Operations Administrators and Site Reliability Engineers for the High Compliance team. This team focuses on developing and maintaining SaaS instances aligned with region-specific high compliance standards, meeting customer demand for secure, automated SaaS solutions in Oracle’s Cloud Gov market. Candidates should have experience troubleshooting Linux-based applications; knowledge of virtual machines and SELinux (Security-Enhanced Linux) is beneficial but not essential. The role involves collaborating across multiple teams in different time zones and interfacing with a global application development organization
SRE Role Description
Solve complex problems related to infrastructure cloud services and build automation to prevent problem recurrence. Design, write, and deploy software to improve the availability, scalability, and efficiency of Oracle products and services. Design and develop designs, architectures, standards, and methods for large-scale distributed systems. Facilitate service capacity planning and demand forecasting, software performance analysis, and system tuning.
Analyze, design develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for commercial or end user applications. Writes code, completes programming and performs testing and debugging of applications.
DevOps / Site Reliability Engineer 4 (US FedRAMP SaaS Implementation)
A candidate for this position needs experience troubleshooting issues with applications running on the Linux operating system. Experience with virtual machines, and SELinux (Security-Enhanced Linux) desired but not required. The project has multiple teams with people spread out in multiple time zones.
This position will use a variety of automation tools such as Terraform, Chef, and Ansible to manage SELinux virtual servers and some possible Windows Servers. Cloud Engineers must configure day-to-day processing as well as alerting errors, processing standards, auditing, and monitoring. Other responsibilities are to automate data replication and all other aspects for high availability and disaster recovery. Team members work with the application and database developers to automate changes; and the Quality Assurance and Production Ops teams to resolve defects. And finally, must also document system settings and changes at the US FedRAMP standards.
Must be able to mentor other team members to get them to a higher skill level, while also learning, learning, learning yourself.
*This role is limited to US Citizen due to the nature of support for US FedRAMP. This position is 100% remote with some travel possible. As the role will interacts with our global application development teams, hours will vary to ensure good communication with teams across the globe.
Requirements

In-depth expertise in Linux
Ability to resolve issues with applications running on the linux operating system (SELinux even better)
Ability to resolve complex application data flow scenarios and issues as they arrise
Ability to diagnose and resolve complex system and cloud infrastructure issues.
Familiarity with advanced monitoring tools (Nagios, Prometheus, CloudWatch).
Comprehensive understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
Experience with advanced network configurations, load balancers, proxies, and firewall rules.
Extensive knowledge of web application infrastructure and cloud automation tools
Experience with high availability configurations and data replication.
Comprehensive knowledge of containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes
Willing to excel in a fast-paced, challenging environment
Be able to implement solutions when given rather generic requirements from the US Government
Strong expertise in security principles, best practices, and compliance requirements
Proficiency in cloud architecture, design patterns, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform
Mastery of scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell).
Extensive experience with automation tools like:
Puppet or equivalent
Ansible / Chef / Shepherd
Powershell (for Windows hosts)
sh / bash scripting for linux hosts
Jenkins pipelines in Groovy or equivalent
Ability to design, implement, and manage robust CI/CD pipelines
Source code management tools and concepts
Strong expertise in security principles, best practices, and compliance requirements
Strong ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and lead technical initiatives
Ability to align technical solutions with business goals and objectives

Understand and communicate the scale, capacity, security, performance attributes, and requirements of the service and technology stack. Demonstrate clear understanding of automation and orchestration principles. Act as ultimate escalation point for complex or critical issues that have not yet been documented as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Utilize a deep understanding of service topology and their dependencies required to troubleshoot issues and define mitigations. Understand and explain the affect of product architecture decisions on distributed systems. Professional curiosity and a desire to a develop deep understanding of services and technologies.
Qualifications displayed in the job posting

US: Hiring Range: from $97,400 to $199,500 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
