Oracle Principal Software Engineer (JoinOCI-SDE) in Topeka, Kansas

Job Description

Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. You will be responsible for defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.

Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:

As a Principal Member of Technical Staff you will own the solution design and development of a major component of Oracle’s Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). Your experience and leadership will be required for the innovation and catalyst for the strategic direction of our next generation services and offerings. You will be engineering with team members across the organization for sophisticated integrations that build the foundation of OCI. In the practice of agile, we iteratively deliver software with high frequency and exceptional quality. You will get along with executive staff, product teams, and multi-functional team members across OCI, to deliver on company objectives and key results.

Candidate Profile:

Experience

  • BS in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent practical experience.

  • 5+ years of experience designing and delivering large-scale, highly available distributed systems

  • Strong knowledge of C, C++ or Java, Golang, and experience with scripting languages such as Python, Perl, etc.

  • Strong knowledge of microservices, APIs, SDKs, data structures, algorithms, OS platforms, and distributed systems

  • Strong understanding of databases, NoSQL systems, storage and distributed persistence technologies

  • Driven by results; thrives in a development environment that is agile, collaborative, and in start-up mode, even when faced with ambiguity

  • The ability to present complex information clearly and concisely to all audiences including customers and executives

Systems fundamentals

  • Working familiarity with networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP) and standard network architectures

  • Strong understanding of databases, NoSQL, storage, and distributed systems

  • Knowledge of Linux/Unix fundamentals

Technologies

  • Experience with build automation, continuous integration, or continuous deployment tools

  • Experience building multi-tenant, virtualized infrastructure is a strong plus

  • Experience in developing and designing solutions using containerization as well as complex solutions, systems integrating various hardware solutions/components

  • Experience with messaging, queue management, caching, and/or event streaming

  • Experience working in an environment that is data driven using AI/ML

  • Strong solving and performance tuning skills

Top 3 abilities/technologies in the ideal candidate:

  1. Software Engineering experience with distributed systems within large-scale environments

  2. 5+ years of experience working on challenging issues with a self-starter / self-motivated attitude

  3. Cloud practitioner experience using multiple services and offerings

Range and benefit information provided in this posting are specific to the stated location(s)

New York City Pay Range: from $92,400 to $229,000 per annum; eligible for bonus and equity.

Colorado Pay Range: from $113,800 to $216,900 per annum; eligible for bonus and equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience and market conditions, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
