The employee is highly independent, in charge of an office that covers a large geographic area. Responsible for planning,
organizing and directing the operations of a major economic development program. The incumbent has the discretion to plan,
develop, organize, and execute assignments as required within the mission of the department. Creativity and initiative are needed
to develop strategies in providing technical assistance to existing Kansas businesses. Directions provided to the employee are
general in nature. Assignments are planned and carried out with little supervision. The supervisor establishes goals and it is the
incumbents responsibility to prepare a schedule in order to meet those goals. For example, the employee is expected to visit an
average of at least 140 businesses a year which may vary depending on the region and provide assistance and analysis to 20
communities. The incumbent submits weekly progress reports or tracks all activity in Salesforce on a weekly basis to ensure that
all goals are met.
