In the legal department, we are passionate about enabling customer success, while building a strong foundation for the future. We strive to provide thoughtful and pragmatic counsel and to minimize risks as we pursue business opportunities. We thrive by working together to solve complex challenges, supporting and learning from each other, and having fun!

What You Will Do:

  • Analyze global and regional financial services laws, regulations, and standards (e.g., DORA, APRA, AML/CSP, FFIEC, MAS, Basel) and translate requirements into actionable product features.

  • Work closely with Product, Engineering, Security, Commercial Legal, and Sales to ensure compliance features meet customer needs and regulatory expectations.

  • Act as a bridge between legal, technical, and business functions to align priorities.

  • Stay informed on evolving global financial services laws and SaaS-related regulations.

  • Support periodic assessments to identify areas for improvement in compliance-related capabilities.

  • Partner with Office of the CISO to develop scalable frameworks for addressing regulatory updates within the product lifecycle.

  • Support creation of external customer and Sales enablement material on Confluent’s compliance position against Financial Services outsourcing laws and guidelines.

  • Assist commercial attorneys, Office of the CISO, and Sales teams in addressing customer queries about product compliance and regulatory alignment.

  • Identify potential legal risks in product features or processes and propose solutions to mitigate them.

What You Will Bring:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree; admission to at least one state or national bar association.

  • 7+ years of experience as a practicing attorney, preferably with experience in financial services, SaaS, or technology sectors.

  • Deep understanding of global financial services regulations (e.g., DORA, APRA, AML/CSP, FFIEC, MAS, Basel), technology laws, and privacy laws.

  • Proven ability to translate complex legal requirements into actionable business and technical solutions.

  • Strong collaborative skills with experience working cross-functionally in a dynamic environment.

  • Excellent communication and analytical skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.

  • People who are smart, humble and empathetic, and who enjoy working as one team to get things done!
