One Gas Regulatory Compliance Specialist-Locate Auditing-Topeka in Topeka, Kansas

You will be responsible for auditing the accuracy of line locates within the Topeka service area as well as the surrounding areas. You will have 1+ years of experience in line location. This position will be located in Topeka.

What You Will Do

Research and interpret the Kansas Damage Prevention Law and be familiar with the terms of the KGS contract for line locating.

Review operational procedures and practices related to line locating as described in the OGS operation and maintenance standards.

Conduct daily audits of line locates completed by the KGS line locating contractor. This may include other areas outside of the assigned area.

Complete locate audits of company locates in the areas assigned.

Provide support to operations with locating issues and training as needed.

Work with contract locators to improve locating performance and capability.

Coordinate locating QC data with company Damage Prevention and Public Awareness programs.

Respond to damages to verify accuracy or lack thereof of the locate.

Provide research and analysis of the locator’s performance when damages occur.

Research, advise, assess, and communicate information and recommendations related to (as specified by position):

  • Company operations and maintenance procedures related to line locating

  • Locate trends and locate performance data

  • Damage Prevention and Public Awareness Plans

  • Responses to Notices of Probable Violations

Communicate with or assist company personnel, state regulatory officials, and DOT regulators relative to compliance with locating issues and company procedures and practices.

Regular and reliable attendance is required in performance of job.

Employee may be required to perform additional duties as assigned.

What You Will Need

Preferred Bachelor's Degree Science, Engineering or an equivalent combination of formal education and job related experience:

Experience in various phases of distribution, underground storage, and/or transmission field and administrative functions.

Working knowledge of piping standards and design; applicable operations standards; and corrosion control and odorization processes.

Experience with the application of math and algebraic formulas and statistics.

Experience in use and function of office equipment including computers and applicable software.

Excel and advanced features such as Pivot tables, and logical statements

Build databases, reports and queries in Access and other similar systems Proficient with all company enterprise applications (GIS, MAXIMO, BANNER)

Experience identifying, researching, evaluating and prioritizing problems or specific situations and coordinating appropriate action/response.

Experience reading and interpreting DOT regulations, Parts 191 and 192; Pipeline Safety Rules; Customer Service Field Manual; EPA regulations; and various other technical documents relative to governmental rules and regulations.

Experience interacting, advising, and communicating effectively.

Experience developing information and making presentations to groups and individuals.

Read and write fluently in English.

Minimum Applicable driver's license.

Mobility to travel in and around plant and office facilities and around job sites out-of-doors.

Operate tools and equipment.

Able to communicate and exchange information; conduct oral presentations.

Visual ability sufficient to perform job duties.
