Pearson Research and Development Analyst 12 Month Limited Term in Topeka, Kansas

We are currently seeking a talented individual for a Research and Development Analyst position to support the development of clinical assessments, focusing on products in the Behavior and Personality domains. Pearson Clinical Assessment is globally recognized for our gold-standard assessments in cognition, memory, neuropsychology, behavior, personality/psychopathology, academic achievement, occupational therapy, and speech/language pathology.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in research, clinical, or educational settings. This position will report to the Research and Development Manager, and can be remote, or based in our San Antonio, TX or Bloomington, MN offices. This is a 40-hour a week, 12-month limited term position.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Research and Development Analyst will work with a team of professionals – including Research Directors, Product Managers, Project Managers, Field Research coordinators, Psychometricians and Data Analysts, and Digital Developers – and is responsible for supporting all phases of product development. The Research and Development Analyst has a range of responsibilities supporting research and development efforts under the supervision of a Research Director. Responsibilities may include:

  • Working with the cross-functional project team to ensure that all components and deliverables, both in print and digital mediums, are prepared in a timely manner to meet the publication schedule

  • Contributing to the development, refinement, maintenance, and quality control of products

  • Collaborating with the Research Director and team members in writing new test items, piloting new materials, or creating product specifications

  • Collaborating with cross-functional and cross-divisional teams in the development and delivery of digital products and services

  • Drafting, editing, and finalizing test components, such as record forms, stimulus books, and manuals. This may include conducting literature reviews and compiling references, contributing to manual chapters using standard text templates, providing content for scoring and reporting software programs, and checking for consistency across different components of the test

  • Developing item art specifications and working a cross-functional team to ensure that visual and auditory item stimuli meet both print and software specifications and usability standards, and comply with our global content standards

  • Ability to flex work schedule (approximately 10% of time) to accommodate meetings with international colleagues

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in a clinical or educational field from a nationally recognized institution of higher education; Master’s degree preferred

  • Subject matter expertise in a clinical or educational setting preferred, particularly in the assessment of socio-emotional learning and behavior or personality disorders

  • Background in research methods and statistics preferred

  • Experience administering and interpreting clinical assessments preferred

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Excellent planning and organizational skills

  • Strong communication skills in oral, written, and technical (research or business) genres with the ability to communicate moderately complex information to different stakeholders in a way that can be easily understood

  • The abilities and mental flexibility to take on various tasks as needed to work as part of a team managing multiple products at various stages of development

  • Demonstrated success working as an individual contributor and within a collaborative team setting

  • Comfortable learning from mentors, incorporating constructive feedback, and contributing to a positive team culture

  • Ability to work well independently and take the initiative to follow through with tasks and to problem solve when questions arise or clarification is needed

  • Ability to recognize assumptions, evaluate arguments, and draw conclusions that are clear, consistent, sound, and fair and communicate these ideas in constructive and actionable ways

  • Ability to work well in a business environment, understanding how business requirements may differ from clinical, educational, or academic practice. This often requires balancing clinical and research interests with business requirements within the constraints of project scope, time, and cost

  • Ongoing commitment to principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility; open-mindedness; thoughtful consideration of differences; and a willingness to listen, learn, and improve

  • Experience, skills, and/or demonstrated ability to utilize technology, mobile and web applications, and software and to upskill in areas such as artificial intelligence

Compensation at Pearson is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location. As required by the California, Colorado, Hawaii, Maryland, New York State, New York City, Washington State, and Washington DC laws, the pay range for this position is as follows:

The minimum full-time salary range is between $55,000 - $60,000.
