We invite you to apply for the position ofRetail Category Development Managerbased out of our Topeka, Kansas Corporate Office, with travel to customers and business meetings. The Retail Category Development Manager is ultimately responsible for developing solutions to drive the category for the customer, and must be perceived as a credible Category partner, as well as to providing Category Management services including Category Assessment, product assortment, shelf strategies & recommendations for each retail environment. Additionally, this role needs to develop working relationships with the customer, consumer marketing, retail marketing and insights team to drive category growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leads Category Management partnerships by providing insights, identifying opportunities and tailoring solutions to drive the category.

  • Utilize all available data sources to generate the optimal assortment recommendations to drive category growth and Hill’s consumption

  • Develop the Product assortment & Placement recommendations within the 6P tool, including the launch of new items & SKU rationalization or discontinuations.

  • Produce planograms to merchandise recommended assortments with a shopper centric approach.

  • Production of category review decks using external & internal data sources aligned to Customer and Hill’s timings.

  • Monthly analysis of external and internal sales and profitability data to identify opportunity gaps, best practices, competitive strategy and 6P execution and/or compliance issues.

  • Own the Category Management process, liaise with commercial & customer teams to develop category plans, provide input and guidance on new product launches/re-launches.

  • Co-lead the development of the Category Development Center of Excellence through the establishment of an insights, reports & best practices repository that can be shared & utilized to raise the wider organization’s category development competencies.

  • Maintain and publish weekly/monthly business performance reports.

  • Understanding & communication of Category review schedules for all key customers, ensuring all key deliverables are received within customer timelines.

  • Space to sales review and insights meeting post category resets.

Basic qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 7+ years of related CPG (Consumer Packaged Goods) experience

Preferred qualifications include:

  • MBA

  • 4+ years Category Management or Business Analytics experience

Expected Areas of Skills

  • Intermediate level (or greater) Excel, Access, & PowerPoint

  • Project management skills
