Position Summary & Responsibilities: Safety Specialist

The Kansas Department of Labor has an opening for a Safety Specialist. This individual travels throughout the state conducting Safety Consultations with private businesses as part of the OSHA 21(d) Consultation Program to promote employee safety and health in accordance with Federal and State laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. Develops and presents formal training/education seminars in order to inform them of State and Federal regulations. Qualification requirements include Bachelor\'s/associates degree in safety or occupational health fields; or 5 years of experience in safety, accident prevention, industrial hygiene or related field that provided an understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the safety and occupational health field; or a combination of education and experience.

  • Follow-Up & Train: Play a crucial role in ensuring that safety violations are corrected by conducting thorough follow-ups. Plus, share your knowledge by providing additional training as requested, helping teams understand and implement best safety practices.
  • Engage & Educate: Develop and deliver dynamic training and educational seminars for both the General and Construction Industries. Your presentations will guide them through State and Federal regulations, ensuring they stay informed and compliant.
  • Stay Ahead of the Curve: Attend cutting-edge training sessions, seminars, and conferences to keep your expertise sharp and up-to-date. You\'ll stay at the forefront of technology and regulatory changes, bringing the latest knowledge back to your role.
