Job Summary:

The position is part of the team that serves as Hill’s direct connection to the animal health industry, including the veterinary healthcare team. Activities center around the development and flawless execution of education strategies that ensure: 1) internal teams have the scientific knowledge necessary for success, and, 2) external customers are educated on nutrition and Hill’s nutritional philosophies resulting in endorsement for and active recommendation of Hill’s products.

The role drives best in class customer engagement through education that supports the commercial grid and positioning the company as a valuable partner providing scientific evidence-based advancements in the field of nutrition, supporting the veterinary healthcare team, pet store associates and consumers through education, and demonstrating commitment to transforming the lives of people and their pets.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Education Strategy

  • Owns the development and execution of internal and external of national education strategy

  • Collaborates with colleagues to align with commercial priorities and go-to-market plans

  • Develops and implements innovative solutions that allow Hill’s to stay ahead of industry trends and provide best in class customer education

  • Collaborates with Global Education team, communicating the national needs and priorities as they relate to educational tools.

Internal Education

  • Develops and maintains an internal education grid that supports the broader commercial grid

  • Manages the development of educational materials that are utilized to provide training to the internal and external field teams, emphasizing key marketing messages and tactics for influencing clinic protocols / customer recommendations to drive the sale.

  • Develops strategies for utilizing digital tools to reinforce and ensure mastery of scientific concepts by these teams

  • Owns the strategy for, and oversees the execution of, Hill’s new hire Wellness and Therapeutic training courses, in coordination with HR

  • Owns the strategy for US focused content delivered during Hill’s Transforming Lives Tours.

External Education

  • Develops and maintains an external customer education grid that supports the broader commercial grid

  • Vet clinic customers: Manages the development of materials that are used to engage, educate and influence veterinary healthcare team members to grow share and brand used/recommended most often.

  • Pet store customers: Manages the development of materials that are used to engage, educate and influence store associates to drive brand recommended most often

  • Provides uniform messaging across all educational touch points, including social media, digital platforms, in-clinic/store tools, etc.

  • Collaborates with the company’s veterinary consultation services for aligned messaging

People and Project Management

  • Manages the team responsible for executing against the education grids, developing content and managing social / digital platforms

  • Manages and / or serves as a key stakeholder in education related projects / initiatives

  • Establishes processes and procedures and collaborates with internal stakeholders to create technically accurate and legally approved educational materials.

Basic qualifications:

  • Professional degree in veterinary medicine (DVM, VMD or equivalent)

  • 8+ years’ experience in corporate (animal health industry) OR academic or clinical practice

  • Current active license to practice veterinary medicine in at least one state

  • Experience and/or training in curricular development, online learning or adult learning

  • Experience in the use of social media platforms

Preferred qualifications:

  • Understanding of the pet food industry

  • Professional degree (Masters or PhD) or equivalent work experience in education or a related field

  • Experience and/or training in curricular development, online learning or adult learning

  • Experience managing people

  • Experience collaborating cross-functionally
