The Role

The Senior Vice President, Public Sector will be responsible for strategically leading activities with federal, state/local government and education organizations, leveraging extensive market knowledge to maximize revenue growth. They will lead with a growth mindset, influence customers, and promote emerging technology offerings. Key differentiators for this leader, will be success in building collaborative outcome-oriented teams, driving a culture that enables change, having customer obsession, and leading with clarity and courage while promoting team, trust, and transparency. The role will lead a multi-functional customer obsessed team focused on deeply understanding government client challenges and delivering complex solutions that delight customers.

The Main Responsibilities

  • Builds strong lasting relationships with public sector agencies and other technology partners.

  • Leading collaborator in designing go-to-market product, pricing and promotion solutions appropriate for Public Sector in concert with product, marketing and network planning.

  • Drive the business strategy to identify and penetrate new market opportunities within Public Sector markets.

  • Deliver weekly forecast & delivery commitments; Motivate, coach and develop a multi-segment sales leadership team, resolve organizational conflict, remove revenue generating barriers and provide positive recognition and feedback to leaders and ecosystem partners.

  • Sponsor business case modeling and approvals

  • Drive market-based product modifications for achieving government certifications

  • Serve as a member of the Leadership Team for the business, building strong peer relationships and contributing to cross-functional problem solving, to drive continuous improvement and profitable growth.

  • Serve as a thought leader for the business in the industry, including interacting with analysts, speaking at events, and being active in industry associations to influence policy and market trends.

  • Prioritize the corporate strategic objectives and build alliance relationships that help Lumen achieve those objectives

What We Look For in a Candidate

  • 12+ years of Public Sector sales management experience (at the Vice President or equivalent level) managing a multi-segment team of sales leaders.

  • Demonstrated experience in exceeding revenue targets.

  • Successful track record bidding and winning sales through the RFP process.

  • Experience with new network build business case development, managing OPEX, CAPEX, and P&L for a region.

  • Possess the knowledge and relationship building skills to act as an effective advocate for network improvements/changes with offer management, network planning, field operations, network operating center and technical service center in order to stabilize network weak points, serve and retain customers and develop new revenue opportunities.

  • Security clearance preferred (TS/TS/SCI)

  • Must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information (applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation)

Compensation

The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee's primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual's qualifications.

Location Based Pay Ranges

$267190 - $356250 in these states: AR, ID, KY, LA, ME, MS, NE, SC, and SD.

$281250 - $375000 in these states: AZ, AL, FL, GA, IN, IA, KS, MO, MT, NM, ND, OH, OK, PA, TN, UT, VT, WV, WI, and WY.

$295320 - $393750 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NV, NH, NC, OR, and RI.

$309380 - $412500 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DE, DC, IL, MD, MA, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA.

As with the pay range variety that's based on the region of a country, specific offers are determined by various factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications and other business needs.

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.

This position is eligible for either short-term incentives or sales compensation. Director and VP positions also are eligible for long-term incentive.
