The Role

The VDI Infrastructure and Disaster Recovery Specialist is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing Virtual Desktop solutions, as well as overseeing disaster recovery solutions. This role involves monitoring and maintaining VDI environments, troubleshooting issues, optimizing performance, ensuring security and compliance, and managing disaster recovery tools such as Zerto, Azure Site Recovery, AWS DR, and VCDA. The specialist will work with various VDI technologies and tools, including Omnissa Horizon, Citrix CVAD/DaaS, Azure AVD, FSLogix, and NetScaler, while collaborating with IT teams and stakeholders to ensure smooth operations and continuous improvement.

This is a work from home position within the U.S.

The Main Responsibilities

VDI Infrastructure:

  • Design and implement Virtual Desktop solutions (Omnissa Horizon, Citrix CVAD/DaaS, Azure AVD).

  • Manage FSLogix, DEM, UPM profiles, and NetScaler.

  • Document solutions and best practices.

Operational Management:

  • Monitor and maintain VDI environments.

  • Troubleshoot VDI issues (VMware, Citrix, FSLogix, NetScaler).

  • Update golden images with minimal downtime.

  • Proficient with vSphere, VCD, NSX, vROPS, PowerShell, Windows, and Active Directory.

  • Perform system upgrades, patches, and backups.

Performance Optimization:

  • Analyze and enhance VDI performance.

  • Use monitoring tools to identify and resolve issues.

Security and Compliance:

  • Manage Group Policies and enforce security procedures.

  • Ensure compliance with data protection standards.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain VDI documentation and generate performance reports.

Collaboration and Support:

  • Work with IT teams and stakeholders.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay updated on VDI technologies.

  • Participate in capacity and disaster recovery planning.

Disaster Recovery (DR) Management:

  • Familiarity with DR tools such as Zerto, Azure Site Recovery (ASR), AWS DR, and VCDA.

  • Ability to manage and maintain DR solutions.

  • Coordinate with vendors and maintain DR documentation.

  • Conduct DR drills and provide support for DR issues.

What We Look For in a Candidate

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and relevant experience required; 6+ years of related experience or Master's degree and 4+ years of related experience

  • Knowledge of network and infrastructure design for DR.

  • Scripting and automation experience (Powershell, Python, etc).

Compensation

The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee's primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual's qualifications.

$84,740 - $112,980 in these states: AL AZ FL GA IA IN KS MO MT ND NM OH OK PA TN UT VT WI WV WY

$88,980 - $118,630 in these states: CO HI MI MN NC NH NV OR RI

$93,210 - $124,280 in these states: AK CA CT DC DE IL MA MD NJ NY TX VA WA

As with the pay range variety that's based on the region of a country, specific offers are determined by various factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications and other business needs.

This position is eligible for either short-term incentives or sales compensation. Director and VP positions also are eligible for long-term incentive.
