Broadridge is growing! We are looking for our next Sr. Director of Database Engineering and Automation to join our team. We are seeking a business-minded, technically oriented leader who has the energy, edge, and execution capability to drive our technology transformation. This role will define the technology blueprint for the future of our business and will be a catalyst for change, someone who is able to take groundbreaking technology concepts and apply them to the problems of today. This is a remote role where you will work off-site. Travel is limited and generally used for team learning and collaboration meetings. This is also an individual contributor role at this time

Qualifications

  • Minimum ten (10) years of recent lead and hands-on experience in SQL development, Data Warehouse and Data Marts solutions

  • Extensive hands-on experience with SQL Server

  • Education: BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent

  • Financial Industry experience is a plus

  • Strong analytical abilities and problem-solving skills; strong communication skills

  • Working knowledge of ETL techniques, tools, and processes

  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in using tools to optimize database performance. SQL server is a must

  • Knowledge of Python or other programming languages for data analysis and processing is a plus

  • Knowledge and hands-on experience in cloud architecture, AWS, Jenkins, and deployment processes is a plus

Responsibilities

  • DBA, Automation and Performance expert

  • SQL server Database Engineering role

  • Design, architect and implement new and existing SQL Server instances for scalability and reliability

  • Work in a technical leadership role with other IT towers to develop and adopt a comprehensive SQL server strategy

  • Optimize Database performance

  • Support production and development databases

  • Understand the role of database and its integration points with the application and be able to advise on troubleshooting avenues during production troubleshooting bridges

  • Working knowledge of VMware, hands on experience working with with Locks and Deadlocks

  • Develop custom alerts and performance metrics for database servers

  • Create scripting (Powershell, Python) and Jenkins automations for DEV/QA/PROD data migration and for many other types of tasks

  • Perform data analysis and database management

  • Working knowledge of SRE and system administration activities

  • Solution and architect the enterprise Disaster Recovery and High Availability strategy to protect client database environments

  • Knowledge of AWS based databases is preferred

  • Troubleshoot database related latency, deadlocks, indexes and resource utilization problems during batch cycles

  • Optimize SQL queries for optimum performance by analyzing query plans

  • Assist in the upgrade of large volume of SQL servers, working with Vendors and architects to execute large scale enterprise SQL upgrades

  • Be very proficient with database monitoring tools, both off the shelf and home grown scripts, be adept in forensic data collection and working with MS on severity 1 problems

  • Analyze data models for inefficiencies to improve performance

  • Be able to advice on performance tuning metrics as suggested by Microsoft best practices

  • Assist the team in various phases of development, including design, implementation, integration, revision control, release and the maintenance of multiple products and systems which use database services

  • Perform impact analysis of application changes performed that impact database performance

  • Maintain documentation of business and functional requirements using confluence and Jira.
