Job Duties:   The Office of Judicial Administration seeks a full-time, Kansas-licensed attorney. A hybrid work arrangement with some flexibility to work from home may be available for this position, dependent on continuing supervisor approval.

The ideal applicant must have excellent research, writing, and verbal communication skills; exceptional organizational, analytical, and project management skills; excellent attention to detail; and the ability to multitask and be self-motivated. The applicant must be able to work independently and collaborate with and take direction from others. This position requires the ability to meet deadlines and handle stressful situations. Some work-related travel may be required.

Duties of this position include:

  • providing legal advice and assistance to judicial branch officers and employees;

  • providing representation and advice regarding personnel and employment law issues;

  • providing representation in administrative hearings and court proceedings;

  • drafting, editing, and reviewing contracts, letters, policies, rules, manuals, and other documents;

  • researching and drafting legal memoranda and legislative bill summaries;

  • assisting with training judges, court managers, and staff;

  • staffing judicial branch committees;

  • overseeing and managing projects;

  • analyzing and applying laws and rules;

  • using Westlaw and other resources to research and analyze legal and policy issues; and

  • other duties as assigned.

    Required Education and Experience: D egree from accredited law school and an active Kansas law license. Legal experience in the areas of civil litigation, criminal law, contracts, or human resources a plus. Prior law review, research attorney, or appellate experience preferred.
