What You’ll Be Doing

Cadmus is actively seeking a Technical Director, Private Sector Development to the Economic Engagement and Private Sector Development line of business across a wide range of programs. This will include leading technical assignments, championing business development efforts, and providing thought leadership on key private sector development and learning issues.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality technical leadership on private sector development issues, including on trade and private sector development, export promotion and market systems, as well as expertise in data, analytics, and learning; identifying and conducting research on topics related to private sector development; and, among other things, providing policy and implementation advice to clients

  • Lead technical assignments across a range of private sector development issues on Cadmus’ current programs, including Asia Futures, through technical assistance, research products, and tools and resources

  • Provide expertise on data analytics and learning integrated into international development projects and for USAID and other clients

  • Engage with high priority stakeholders in government and private and development sectors to keep up to date with the emerging challenges and requirements across the globe; explore potential for partnerships; and advocate for best practices in private sector development, data, analytics, and learning

  • Advise and lead assigned activities, including coordinating with buy-in clients, partners, and USAID across the project to include managing technical deliverables from consultants and partners, including providing technical inputs and quality assurance

  • Undertake co-creation and collaborating on thought leadership across the project and in conjunction with USAID

  • Contribute to USAID reporting requirements and information requests

  • Prepare terms of reference for technical assistance activities for designated projects, including initiation of concept, technical design, and staffing

  • Provide expertise to develop learning strategies across the international development division and build capacity to more effectively integrate learning into projects and practices

  • Lead business development efforts within trade and private sector development issues, where needed and relevant

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in economics, international development, international affairs, policy or other relevant field with 10 years of experience or bachelor’s degree with 12 years of experience

  • At least 5 years of years working in private sector development, data, analytics, and/or learning

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills, including a proven ability to communicate complex concepts to development experts

  • Experience working with USAID-funded projects is required, experience working with USAID proposal efforts required

  • Experience liaising with the public and private sectors in varying and diverse roles and capacities including in developing countries, with a preference for experience in the Asia region

  • Advanced understanding of private sector development, data, analytics, learning, and USAID programs

  • Demonstrated ability to work in complex environments, work across varying cultures, and manage diverse teams to deliver impact within agreed timelines

  • Excellent written and spoken English, strong preference for French or Spanish language skills

Additional Information:

Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States as a U.S Permanent Resident or U.S. Citizen.

The minimum starting salary for this position is $143,000. The actual salary may be higher and will be determined by several factors, including relevant work experience, education, skills, and market competitiveness.
