Compensation:

\$16.16 /hour

Pay starts at \$16.16/hr., then staff enter the Kansas Registered Apprentice Program the beginning of the year after hire where pay increases at the end of the first year, and at the end of the second year.

The Kansas Registered Apprentice Program is a structured training program where staff gain specific skills and competencies enabling them to fill multiple roles within the workforce system.

Position Summary & Responsibilities:

Position Summary:

Program Specialist II provide the full array of Wagner-Peyser job candidate and employer services. Provides courteous, professional, and respectful interactions with all customers (job seekers, employers, general population, internal employees etc.) always. Valid drivers license and ability to travel to communities throughout the local area or other assigned locales. On rare occasions, overnight travel will be required.

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

Career Guidance

Performs case management functions including assessing transferable skills, education, work experiences of participant in order to develop goals/ objectives to identify employment related opportunities in which participant can gain experience to reach self-sufficiency. Maintains electronic case file inKANSASWORKS.COM for each participant. Provides overview of Workforce services to customers and ensures that the customer has completed the online registration. Assists customers with job searches, resume and cover letter preparation, completing applications for employment, holds mock interviews with customers, and educates customer on interviewing techniques. Assists customers with reviewing occupational and labor market information for the field of interest. Identifies qualified applicants for referral to employers based on information obtained from the customer. Facilitates classroom training utilizing a canned presentation to improve customers job readiness and ability to find work.

Reemployment Services

Provides case management services for unemployment insurance claimants identified as likely to exhaust benefits to include the following: assessing transferable skills, education, work experiences of participant in order to develop goals/objectives to identify employment related opportunities in which participant can gain experience to reach self-sufficiency

Program Recommendation/Referrals

Screens customers to gather information then makes referrals to appropriate partner services (e.g. health care assistance, food assistance, education assistance, and job training). Maintains knowledge of internal and external resources to make appropriate referrals. Administers on-line testing (e.g. Microsoft, bilingual, office skills) to customers to determine job qualifications. Maintains a presence at the Workforce services booth at a local job and/or resource fair.

Employer Liaison

Solicits new employers to utilize Workforce services and programs. Performs intake process with new employers to create account and determine the employers needs. Maintains and continues to develop relationships with current employers utilizing Workforce services and programs. Inputs jobs orders nd facilitates contact between qualified applicants and employer.

Qualifications:

Education:

High School or GED

Minimum Qualifications:

  • One year of experience interacting with clients, customers, or the public in a social service, customer service or problem resolution setting. Twelve (12) credit hours of course work at the post-secondary level in social services, human services or a related fieldmaybe substituted for the one year of experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Prefer one year of experience working with job seekers in a recruitment or job coaching environment.

Bi-lingual a plus, but not required.
