Position Title: Food Service Kitchen Staff

Department/Location: Building Assigned

Position Qualification: Classified 9 month (student contact days determined by BOE)

Reports To: Food Service Kitchen Manager

Terms of Employment: At-Will

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

GENERAL

The food service kitchen staff worker assists with food preparation, serving, and cleaning of the kitchen area.

QUALIFICATIONS

? High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

? Ability to perform basic math computations.

? Certification of Health for School Personnel.

? Successful completion of KSDE (Kansas Department of Education) food safety requirement within six months of

employment.

? Ability to effectively use district email.

? Desire to apply training received.

? Knowledge of or learns basics of quantity cooking.

? Communicate effectively with members of food service/building staff, students and community.

? Work cooperatively with all personnel.

? React to change productively and complete tasks as assigned.

? Ability to operate kitchen equipment to assure safety and avoid damage.

? Desire to continue career growth.

? Must support district mission, goals and objectives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

? Attend classes, in-service meetings and workshops voluntarily or as assigned by the food service site manager.

? Assist the food service kitchen manager in food service operations.

? Ensure that all activities conform to local, state and federal standards.

? Prepare food items to be served in planned quantities at stated time.

? Follow written and verbal instructions.

? Knowledge and practice of basic principles of quantity food cookery.

? Clean and sanitize equipment properly.

? Follow standardized recipes; weigh and measure food ingredients accurately.

? Maintain clean work area.

? Assist with service as needed using established portion control standards.

? Practice good personal hygiene and food safety.

? Prepare accurate timesheets for each pay period.

? Seek out new information, innovative ideas and techniques.

? Complete other duties as assigned by the food service kitchen manager.

? Regular attendance is required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for extended periods of time. Physical exertion to

manually move, lift, carry, pull or push heavy objects or materials up to 50 lbs., stooping, bending and reaching is required. Specific

vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Employee must work in and around fumes and odors; the noise level in the work environment is usually noisy and crowded. The work
