Performs varied clerical and office work involving the exercise of some independence in the conduct of standard duties for the support of administrative, professional or technical employees.\

  • Customer Service - Performs duties as a technical clerk or typist; or independent work involving significant procedure and sequence. Duties require strong customer service skills and good judgment. Answers, screens, and routes departmental telephone calls to appropriate destination; greets and replies in person, by telephone, or by correspondence to inquiries from visitors and callers; refers more difficult inquiries to an appropriate official. Assists other departmental clerical staff in performing their duties when required. Assists in a variety of operational activities. Receives, sorts, stamps, and distributes department mail. Performs clerical functions and may have other duties unique to the department, agency, or office that are not of a clerical nature.\
  • Data Maintenance - Records and maintains various statistical data regarding the departments services, activities and operations. Prepares, maintains, processes and distributes various reports, records, spreadsheets and other documents pertinent to the departments smooth operation; ensures same is in compliance with department policies and procedures and is accurate and complete.\
  • Clerical Tasks - Compiles, copies, and completes data for administrative and public reports, bulletins, questionnaires and other documents; makes varied mathematical computations on material assembled. Receive payments from clients and verify for accuracy.\

Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. One year of experience in varied clerical and/or secretarial work. Pass legal background check, Child and Adult Abuse & Neglect Central Registry checks, KCJIS Security Policy (fingerprint) check, and pre-employment screen for alcohol and drugs. Must also meet the required conditions contained in KSA 65-516 and KAR 28-4-356.

Preferred Qualifications: Courses in bookkeeping, or administrative and office training.
