Position Summary: The Application Architect/Programmer will work in the Department of Biostatistics & Data Science and play a critical role in the coding, design, installation, testing, deployment, and maintenance of software applications that support the research enterprise at the University of Kansas Medical Center. The candidate will work with required coding languages, and contribute to the overall Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) working both independently and within a group dynamic This position is critical to advancing the clinical research goals across the Health Sciences and ultimately reports to the chair of the Department of Biostatistics & Data Science; however, the Director of Research Information Technology supervises all day-to-day activities and sets the priorities for this position.


Responsibilities: Refactor existing software code to support organizational goals and programmatic needs. Write documentation, including data standards, procedures, and definitions. Develop and document application test plans based on software requirements and technical specifications. Design, develop and deploy software for health research systems using .NET (C#, HTML, CSS, Swift UI, type script, java script) and JAVA technologies (Angular and React). Perform Realtime integrations using Health Level 7 (HL7) standards. Define test objectives for new features and write test cases/scripts based on external and internal design specifications. Maintain confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed. Creates modifies and maintains standardized templates of data collection forms for C3OD. Creation and maintenance of Disease-specific variables. Investigate existing software functionality to answer support queries within established service level agreements. Be flexible to quickly adapt to changing work priorities within the group for specific products and /or clients. Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards with respect to internal and external design specifications. Responsible for reviewing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedure and the change control documents. Other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or Department Chair.


MINIMUM REQUIRMENTS: Master's degree in Computer Science or related field and 3 years of experience designing, developing and deploying software for health research systems using .NET and JAVA technologies (or Bachelor's and 5 years experience with the above technologies). One year of experience with health system integrations utilizing HL7. Position also requires 6 months with mobile application development.
