Summary of Responsibilities

Wichita State UniversitysABET-accredited Biomedical Engineering program integrates physical, chemical and mathematical sciences with engineering principles for the study of biology, medicine, behavior or health. Through laboratory experiences that bridge multiple disciplines, we develop materials, processes, implants, devices and informatics approaches for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of disease, for patient rehabilitation and for improving health. Graduates are well prepared for careers designing the medical technology that improves our quality of life.\ \ Biomedical engineering students gain a strong foundation in general education, math, science, general and biomedical engineering coursework. The program offers three concentrations: bio devices and instrumentation, bio energy and lifespan engineering.\ \ Program Educational Objectives\ The educational objectives of the Biomedical Engineering program are driven by WSUs mission to be an essential educational, cultural, and economic driver for Kansas and the greater public good, as well as the Biomedical Engineering program mission to prepare students to address health needs.

\ Position Responsibilities:

  1. Teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in Biomedical engineering.
  2. Participate in the department, college, university communities and committees; providing service to the department, college, and university.
  3. Providing advising service to graduate and undergraduate students.
  4. Working as a liaison between industry and students, so students can have meaningful term projects.

Minimum Education

MS in Biomedical Engineering or related field by date of hire.

Minimum Experience

Prior teaching experience in a higher education setting.
