Kansas Employer Assistant Professor - Physical Therapy (Non-Tenure or Tenure Eligible) in Wichita, Kansas

Summary of Responsibilities

1. Teaching courses in area of content in fall, spring, summer semesters.\ 2. University, college, departmental, and community service expected of a tenure-track faculty member.\ 3. Scholarship activities to meet tenure-track, departmental accreditation expectations.\ 4. This individual will be required to fulfill all faculty expectations associated with a tenure-track or non-tenure track university appointments (teaching, research, service) based on experience and expertise.\ 5. This faculty member will be expected to be engaged in active research and/clinical practice depending upon departmental needs and expertise/experience of the candidate.

Minimum Education

  • Graduate of an accredited physical therapist professional program
  • Holds a degree in physical therapy from an accredited program and is licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of Kansas.
  • Holds a terminal academic degree (e.g., PhD, EdD, ScD) in health/education related field from an accredited institution conferred by the time of appointment OR holds a clinical doctorate of physical therapy (DPT)ANDa current specialist certification from the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialists (ABPTS) in oncology, womens health, or pediatrics.

Minimum Experience

1. Demonstrated successful teaching experience at the college or university level as an adjunct or faculty member (i.e., at least one semester).\ 2. Five years of experience as a licensed physical therapist.\ 3. Must be licensed as a physical therapist in the state of Kansas by start date or obtain within 90 days hire.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to accommodate a variety of learning styles and strategies in instructional delivery and learning activities, including online and blended learning, flexible teaching methods, and applied learning approaches.
  • Ability to teach content related to oncology, nutrition, womens health, pediatrics.
  • Ability to conduct research and supervise student research.
  • Ability to work independently and coordinate with colleagues and peers.
  • Ability to co-teach assigned courses.

Required Licenses, Certificates & Registrations

  • Licensed physical therapist (or eligible for licensure) in the state of Kansas or licensed within 90 days of hire.
  • Member of the American Physical Therapy Association.
  • Valid Drivers License.
