Meritrust Credit Union Business Loan Officer in Wichita, Kansas

Responsible for identifying, acquiring, growing new and existing profitable business relationships with businesses to create loan commitments and deposit balances for the Credit Union. Responsible for referral follow up, lead generation, sourcing, and product knowledge. Utilizes sales and relationship building skills to make new loan presentations. The Loan Officer is also responsible for maintaining and servicing the existing business loan portfolio.

  • Meet assigned sales goals and objectives. Participate in business development activities that promote the increase of business loans and deposits for the Credit Union.

  • Develop and execute a strategic to follow on referrals from other credit union lines of business to expand relationships and gain new business.

  • Interviews, takes applications and processes preliminary documentation on loan requests, discussing loan alternatives, credit criteria, interest rates, structure and loan documentation.

  • Serve as the relationship manager providing business financial services support to current and prospective members.

  • Conducts property or collateral inspections as needed for new loan requests or for annual review of credit.

  • Collect financials and miscellaneous financial information for analysis.

  • Participates in industry groups and community, civic events to promote Credit Union products and services and serve as a resource for business related groups and agencies.

  • Lead efforts to constantly develop new products and services for our business members. Develop resources, gather information from existing members, research trends and recommend initiatives for adoption at Meritrust.

  • Conduct all aspects of business lending, including origination, and closing, in accordance with applicable laws and policies.

  • Assist Special Accounts, when necessary, to resolve loan delinquencies or negative business deposit accounts.

  • Deliver credit presentations to the Business Loan Committee and Leadership Team.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor(s).

  • Demonstrated ability to sell and provide exceptional service.

  • Knowledge of appropriate lending regulations, procedures, and practices.

  • Superior working knowledge of deposit services policies, procedures and practices.

  • Ability to perform financial analyses on business financials and tax returns.

  • Knowledge of government-sponsored loan programs, such as SBA.

  • Excellent oral/written communication skills and problem solving skills.

  • Proficiency in using spreadsheet and word processing applications.

  • Ability to operate a personal computer, adding machine, and make math calculations.

  • College degree preferred.

  • Demonstrated track record of self improvement.

  • Three years financial institution experience, working with a broad range of products and services.
