Summary of Responsibilities
The Program Director and Department Chair assumes leadership and management responsibilities for the Department of Physician Assistant. This position is responsible for departmental organization and administration to include admissions, budget, personnel, program development, faculty development, course scheduling, and strategic planning; oversight of activities related to ongoing program assessment and accreditation; and general effectiveness of the programs and faculty. The Program Director and Department Chair is responsible for guiding the scholarly activity of the department and for promoting collaborative scholarship and inter-professional educational programs within the College of Health Professions. The Program Director and Department Chair is also responsible for carrying out the regular duties of a faculty member related to teaching, student advising, scholarly activities, and service to the university and community so long as those duties do not comprise more than 20% of the PD/Chairs time. As a member of the colleges Executive Council, the Program Director/Chair must be fully engaged in the adaptive challenges facing the college.
Minimum Education
Graduate of an accredited PA program\ \
Minimum Experience
- 3 years of full-time experience in higher education in faculty or administrative role
- 2 years of teaching experience in an academic or health related setting
- Demonstrated organizational leadership
- Demonstrated successful experience working with teams
- Computer competency;
