Job Title: Coil Line Operator
Job Description
This position is within the Plant department, responsible for receiving, processing, storing, and distributing metal. The role involves operating specialized equipment and performing support functions that require practical knowledge of warehouse operations with an emphasis on safety. Key responsibilities include locating materials, moving inventory or equipment, understanding and maintaining the decoil line, and ensuring the upkeep of the warehouse.
Responsibilities
Review and follow work orders, tooling instructions, or other written specifications.
Determine processing specifications such as materials, sizes, surface conditions, material defects, dimensions, tolerances, and operational sequences.
Ensure correct material for the job is used according to work orders.
Coordinate and execute material handling.
Adjust controls to set cutting speed, depth, and feed rates.
Measure and examine pieces using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, scales, and squares to ensure conformance to work order specifications.
Understand the importance of tolerances identified by work orders, Standard Shop Tolerances, or ASTM.
Perform 'In Process' and 'Finished Product' quality control inspections.
Remove scrap metal and clean equipment according to designated maintenance procedures.
Diagnose problems and make necessary adjustments.
Report any irregularities to the supervisor for direction.
Complete work order paperwork/documentation.
Move material from production areas to storage or other designated areas using a forklift or crane.
Sort and package parts as directed.
Tag material for proper identification and complete all required documentation.
Operate yard truck, forklift, and overhead crane.
Perform spot checks on inventory and complete daily and/or ad hoc checks for proper tagging of material as directed.
Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area.
Adhere to and ensure compliance with applicable safety and quality standards.
Perform all other duties and responsibilities assigned by the supervisor.
Essential Skills
Valid Driver’s License
0-5 years of relevant experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience
Manual dexterity, finger dexterity, arm-hand steadiness, and multilimbed coordination
Ability to read and comprehend written instructions
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form
Basic measurement skills, including taking, converting, and/or using measurements of length, width, height, and weight
Basic arithmetic skills to calculate and convert decimals and fractions
Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively
Sound decision-making skills based on knowledge, experience, and judgment
Ability to lift 100 pounds occasionally and 60 pounds repetitively
Ability to stand for sustained periods of time
Ability to push or pull 80 pounds of force
Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, internal customers, and vendors
Certification to operate all required motorized material handling and rigging equipment
Basic computer proficiency and working knowledge of software applications
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Warehousing and material handling experience
High School diploma or GED

Work Environment
The work environment includes exposure to temperatures in excess of 100 degrees Fahrenheit and below 32 degrees Fahrenheit. The position requires standing for sustained periods, lifting heavy objects, and operating motorized material handling and rigging equipment. Employees are expected to maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area at all times.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wichita, Kansas.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $20.00/hr.
