Spirit AeroSystems Community Relations Coordinator in Wichita, Kansas

Responsibilities

The Community Relations Coordinator is responsible for facilitating employee engagement through company-sponsored volunteer and fundraising activities, strengthening community partnerships on behalf of the company, facilitating corporate charitable contributions, and providing support for the employee-managed Good Neighbor Fund organization.

The Coordinator will work closely with Community Relations management to create opportunities for Spirit employees to engage in volunteer service projects and campaign fundraising drives throughout the year that align with the company strategy and support needs of local charitable organizations.

Key Accountabilities:

  1. Facilitate employee engagement through Team Spirit volunteer activities
  • Facilitate partnerships with benefiting nonprofits.

  • Host monthly Wichita volunteer steering team meetings.

  • Engage and guide event chairs for volunteer activities.

  • Capture and report statistics/data related to each volunteer event.

    1. Facilitate four corporate sponsored campaigns: For Kids' Sake, Tools for School, Spirit of the Harvest, and Spirit of the Season
  • Facilitate event chairs and/or planning teams for each campaign and associated events.

  • Ensure timely communications and executive approvals.

  • Facilitate partnerships with benefiting nonprofits.

    1. Good Neighbor Fund
  • Manage board relations and serve as primary point of contact for community partner relations.

  • Prepare and facilitate board meetings.

  • Support annual board retreat for financial forecasting and planning.

  • Work with current and potential grant recipients to cultivate relationships and provide guidance on requests and applications.

  • Onboard new GNF board members.

  • Facilitate annual GNF membership campaign for Spirit employees.

    1. Community Partnerships
  • Assist with community partnerships for the company, Team Spirit, and Good Neighbor Fund.

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for many community partners.

  • Represent Spirit in meetings with community partners, providing guidance on the corporate strategy, and how to apply for grants and volunteer requests.

  • Facilitate meetings with Community Relations management.

  • Support executive and employee engagement in corporate-sponsored community events.

  • Help negotiate Spirit’s giving relationships as well as volunteer relationships, meeting with partners to discuss new and continuing initiatives.

  • Provide oversight for logos and ads used in sponsorship agreements.

  • Manage attendance at many corporate sponsored events, including executive leadership attendance.

  • Manage corporate charitable payment process.

    1. Global Community Relations
  • Facilitate corporate giving strategy with global sites.

  • Manage data tracking for charitable giving, employee giving, and employee volunteering at all sites and compile overall company metrics.

  • Provide resources to global sites for community activities.

    1. Communications
  • Work with Corporate Communications on messages for campaigns that show global participation.

  • Gather and create items for weekly Community Newlines and for monthly newsletter.

    1. Budget
  • Track budget for charitable giving and provide regular status to Community Relations management.

  • Manage corporate charitable check requests for Wichita.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • The candidate must be able to constructively engage with employee volunteers.

  • Lead campaign drives and events.

  • Capture and organize data for reporting purposes.

  • Conduct meetings for event planning.

  • Professionally represent the company with community partners and nonprofit organizations.

  • Manage corporate charitable distributions, and facilitate corporate giving with global sites.

  • Candidate must also have strong written communication and organizational skills.
