Leads, directs, and supervises assigned shift operation of a 24-hour state-mandated intake and assessment center within the Department of Corrections.
- Performance Management - Supervises subordinate staff and assigns shift coverage and priorities for the program; assists in hiring staff; assists in the orientation of new staff; assigns and checks work; trains in proper methods; completes payroll; evaluates staff performance; serves as a role model. May initiate disciplinary actions for staff members who violate policy and procedure. Ensures staff are trained and evaluated on their knowledge of and adherence to policy, procedures, and state standards specific to their jobs. Serves as the internal expert on program policies and procedures. Oversees task priorities and the delivery of expanded services; Completes performance evaluations. Completes follow up with service providers and updates referral outcomes in data system.\ \
- Quality Assurance - Ensures that all work produced by team members is accurate, complete, professional, and that the turn-around for all work is within the prescribed time limits. Ensures that all required tasks are completed before releasing youth, including admission searches, court records checks, detention risk assessment instrument, and intake and assessment screenings. Ensures clients brought by law enforcement are appropriate for intake/assessment at JIAC; provides assistance to staff in resolving problems with technology, clients, family members, law enforcement and other agencies; communicates and documents effectively through verbal and written communications, to include required reports, information system entries, scheduled team meetings, and shift turnover to oncoming shift.\ \
- Facility Management Monitors the care and security of clients and staff with emphasis on safety and security, information collection, rapport development, de-escalation, and modeling of prosocial attitudes/beliefs/values and behaviors. Serves as the primary JIAC contact during shift for other agencies. Serves as a backup worker, including admission searches, checking court records and status as well as intake and assessment screenings of clients, to facilitate timely movement of clients through the JIAC program process. Completes/ensures completion of facility searches to ensure the facility is free of contraband, along with documentation and facilitation of corrective actions. Ensures that intake and assessment procedures are followed with accurate documentation within prescribed time limits. Reviews reports and other communications to maintain awareness of activities. Investigates incidents, conducts internal investigations, and determines consequences.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in human services or related field. Transcript verifying education credits is required. Must be at least 21 years of age. Two years of experience working with youth and families. Professional references are required to verify the related work experience. Sedgwick County Policy, this is a driving level position that requires a valid US drivers license without restrictions and current proof of automobile insurance. Personal vehicle for use when county vehicle is not available (employee reimbursement is provided by County). Proof of liability insurance on personal vehicle. Must possess first aid, CPR and physical restraint certification or the ability to acquire within initial period of employment. Pass legal background check, Child and Adult Abuse & Neglect Central Registry checks, KCJIS Security Policy (fingerprint) check, and re-employment screen for alcohol and drugs. Must also meet the required conditions contained in KSA 65-516 and KAR 28-4-356. Must meet minimum level on pre-employment testing of keyboarding/typing 30 wpm.
Preferred Qualifications: Prior supervisory experience is preferred.
