Kansas Employer Criminal Justice System Analyst - County Manager in Wichita, Kansas

The purpose of this position is to inform and support the Sedgwick County Public Safety and Criminal Justice system vision, goals and initiatives. The analyst performs impartial and unbiased administrative functions to support community criminal justice system analysis, planning, research and implementation of policies, processes and alternatives which adhere to community values and contribute to multi-system local and state partnerships.

Collaboration

  • Maintain knowledge of criminal justice systems and county government
  • Promote and facilitate stakeholder involvement
  • Collaborate with governmental, judicial, law enforcement, corrections, and other system-involved agencies to establish subject matter expertise and perform essential job functions
  • Attends meetings of the Corrections Advisory Boards, Mental Health and Substance Use Coalition, Homeless Task Force, and/or others as identified

Analysis, Planning and Research

  • Compile system data on key criminal justice and public safety system metrics
  • Research issues of interest and evidence based or successful practice alternatives
  • Prepare operational and statistic reports to inform system agency partners and the community
  • Monitor the system approved work plan and provide progress reports
  • Monitor, identify, and report on state and federal legislation impacting county criminal justice and public safety system plans and priorities
  • Develop and publish an approved, annual Criminal Justice System report

Support Functions

  • Plan, coordinate, and attend criminal justice system meetings
  • Develop agendas, meeting minutes, and other correspondence and meeting materials
  • Research and analyze critical issues identified by criminal justice system members
  • Provide effective communication in both oral and written form on issues related to essential and nonessential job functions
  • Coordinate the preparation of contract/agreement documents
  • Prepare governing body meeting agenda reports

Minimum Qualifications: Seven years of experience working in the Criminal Justice System, Human Services, Public or Business Administration, or a related field. Up to four years of experience may be substituted with education that provides applicable knowledge and skills. Per Sedgwick County Policy, this is a driving level position that requires a valid US drivers license without restrictions and current proof of automobile insurance. Pass legal background check, Child and Adult Abuse & Neglect Central Registry checks, KCJIS Security Policy (fingerprint) check.

Preferred Qualifications: Seven or more years of recent experience working in the criminal justice system, public administration, or human services field, with 2 years of management experience. Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university in Public Administration, Criminal Justice, Political Science, Human Services, Organizational Development or a closely related field.
