Newman University Custodian - (Weekdays) in Wichita, Kansas
Position is full time (40hrs) and works 12 months per year. Paid time off and benefits starting after first 30 days. Approximately 20 days off with pay for observed holidays/breaks with an additional 2 weeks of vacation time accrued per year. Tuition waiver for employee, spouse and eligible dependents after one year of employment.
Occupational Summary:
Perform general custodial duties routinely as assigned by supervisor to maintain cleanliness of university buildings. This full-time position is an eight-hour shift between 7:30 am and 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Occasionally the position requires working hours more than a normal eight-hour shift. Performing the functions with the physical requirements described below requires continually standing and/or walking.

Responsibilities:
Empty trash from offices, classrooms, bathrooms, lobbies, and common areas; clean trash receptacles as needed.
Clean and sanitize restrooms; stock paper products, soap dispensers, air fresheners, etc.
Sweep, mop and/or vacuum floors in all entrances, hallways, offices, classrooms, stairways.
Clean all surfaces (tables, chairs, whiteboards, countertops, blinds and windows, mirrors, picture frames, display cases, light fixtures, etc.).
Maintain and stock designated housekeeping cart, housekeeping closet and equipment for daily use.
Buff (using conventional buffer) common use areas, hallways, offices, classrooms to maintain shine on hard surface floors once a week.
Spot clean carpet and upholstery as needed.
Wax or strip wax hard surface floors annually or as needed.
Shampoo all carpeted areas annually or as needed.
Assist with moving tables, chairs, and other furnishing as needed during special events, or occasions.
Follow all safety policies and procedures and comply with all OSHA programs.
Complete University-required trainings, including FERPA and Title IX.
Perform all other duties as assigned and appropriate to the position.

Project a proper workplace attitude, showing respect and courtesy toward staff, faculty, students, and visitors.
Be punctual, dependable, flexible, and cooperative.
Have reliable transportation to get to and from work on time.
Establish and maintain working relations with supervisors, coworkers, students and the rest of the University faculty and staff.
Accept instructions and feedback from supervisors.
Perform the functions and responsibilities of the job without direct supervisio n.
Requirements:
High School Diploma.
Basic knowledge in the proper and safe use of floor cleaning equipment (floor scrubber, floor buffer, carpet shampooer, carpet extractors, vacuum cleaners).
Basic knowledge in proper and safe handling of cleaning chemicals.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Physical Requirements during Work Shift:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and push or pull up to 100 lbs. daily.
Ability to lift and carry 10-20 lbs. frequently.
Ability to carry supplies and equipment up and down stairs daily.
Ability to bend, stoop or kneel repeatedly.
Ability to reach overhead and maintain balance.
