Job Summary

Performs routine manual work in cleaning, servicing, and stocking supplies in University buildings.

Essential Functions

• Cleans and services assigned areas in University buildings and maintains sufficient stock and supplies for the proper performance of these duties
• Sweeps, mops, and buffs and sprays buff floors and vacuums rugs and carpets in assigned area as needed.
• Cleans rest rooms, offices, and replenishes supplies.
• Washes windows, walls, and other assigned areas.
• Picks up trash, empties garbage containers, and removes all trash to area for disposal.
• Shovels and removes snow and ice from designated areas such as roofs, sidewalks and entryways as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to learn the operation and care of equipment, including, but not limited to: vacuum cleaners, scrubbing machines, polishing machines, and other janitorial equipment.
• Ability to work effectively with fellow workers and others.
• Ability to lift and carry heavy objects.
• Ability to understand and follow explicit instructions, both in oral and written form.
• Ability and willingness to perform any of a variety of routine cleaning tasks.
