Description

The Manager of SEC Reporting plays a crucial role in ensuring the accurate and timely filing of financial reports with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). This position requires strong technical accounting knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively manage deadlines. The Manager of SEC Reporting collaborates closely with various departments including finance, legal, and external auditors to ensure compliance with SEC regulations and reporting standards. Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting: Prepare and review financial statements, footnotes, and other disclosures for SEC filings (e.g., Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K) in accordance with SEC regulations and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

SEC Filings: Manage the entire process of SEC filings from preparation to submission, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with reporting requirements and deadlines.

Technical Accounting: Stay updated on evolving accounting standards and SEC regulations and assess their impact on financial reporting. Interpret complex accounting issues and provide guidance on proper accounting treatment.

Coordination and Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams including finance, legal, internal audit, and external auditors to gather necessary information, resolve accounting issues, and ensure alignment on reporting matters.

Disclosure Controls: Implement and maintain effective internal controls over financial reporting related to SEC reporting activities, ensuring adherence to Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements. SOX Compliance: Assist in the documentation and testing of internal controls related to SEC reporting processes, and address any deficiencies identified during testing.

Financial Analysis: Perform financial analysis and variance explanations to support disclosures in SEC filings, providing insights to senior management and external stakeholders.

Mergers and Acquisitions: Participate in due diligence and integration efforts related to mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures, ensuring proper accounting treatment and disclosure in SEC filings.

Training and Development: Mentor and develop staff members within the SEC reporting team, providing guidance on technical matters, detail oriented development, and career advancement.

Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline processes, enhance controls, and improve the efficiency and accuracy of SEC reporting activities.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting

CPA designation preferred.

5+ years of relevant experience in SEC reporting, preferably within a public accounting firm or public company environment.

Strong understanding of US GAAP and SEC regulations, with the ability to apply them in complex accounting scenarios.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail.

Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate complex accounting issues to various stakeholders.

Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and levels within the organization.
