The Disease Containment Team Leader is a temporary position in the Sedgwick County Health Department that supports the COVID-19 response. The Disease Containment Teams travel within Sedgwick County to certain facilities, such as long-term care facilities, and perform on-site sampling for COVID-19 testing when a person at the facility is COVID-19 positive. In this way, the teams contain the spread of disease. The Team Leader coordinates staff schedules for two Disease Containment Sample Team Assistants and two sample Medical Specialist and Nurse teams, coordinating facility scheduling and documentation. The Team Leader communicates issues and trends to supervisor and supervises two Disease Containment Sample Team Assistants, ensuring accurate and timely sampling registration, data entry, and customer service. The Team Leader performs the functions of the Sample Team Assistants. As needed, the Team Leader will travel to sampling locations and support COVID-19 sampling operations, including check-in/check-out and documentation under full or partial Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Ensures patient confidentiality.
Perform the duties of a Disease Containment Sample Team Assistant
+ Schedule COVID-19 sampling appointments
+ Create/update medical records and accurately complete data entry
+ Check-in and check-out clients politely and professionally
+ Provide accurate and up-to-date information to clients and facilities
+ Accurately enter patient data into Health Department client management and laboratory requisition systems
+ Audit data to verify information is correct and complete
+ Travel to sampling locations and support operations
+ Correct errors timely
+ Follow HIPAA policies
Coordinate Disease Containment Sample Team
+ Coordinate staff schedules for Sample Team Assistants and Sample Teams
+ Coordinate scheduling sampling appointments with facilities
+ Ensure facility documentation and reporting is completed prior to and after sampling is performed
+ Update log of daily activities
+ Ensure all results are communicated to facility in a timely manner
+ Coordinate specimen packaging and shipping
+ Maintain inventory. Ensure staff have needed supplies and equipment.
+ Communicate issues and trends to supervisor
+ Perform audits of team members to ensure accurate and timely sampling registration, data entry, and customer service
+ Answer client and staff questions as needed
Support Health Department COVID-19 Operations
+ As needed, perform duties of the Mobile Testing Team Leader and Isolation and Quarantine Housing Project Manager
+ As needed, assist Mobile Testing and Housing Teams
+ Assist in writing and updating forms, policies, and procedures
+ Document team activities and submit daily report
+ Work to continuously improve processes
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in pu blic health, business administration or other related field or be equivalently qualified by work experience or a combination of work experience and education, with one year of experience substituting for one year of education. One year of experience in varied office management of staff work in a public or private organization including experience in personnel management, budgeting or procurement or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Preferred Qualifications: One year of staff supervision. One year of work experience in a public health department or healthcare-related field.
