The W. Frank Barton School of Business at Wichita State University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month position in Economics (ECON). This is a non-tenure position requiring a masters or Ph.D. degree in Economics or a related field. With outstanding undergraduate and graduate programs, the Department of Economics at Wichita State is home to excellent students. The W. Frank Barton School of Business at Wichita State University is an AACSB-accredited business school, recognized for its innovative curriculum, distinguished faculty, and pioneering research.\ \ The position also requires a record of consistent and strong teaching success in Economics. The Department seeks individuals who can work with diverse students and colleagues and who have experience with a variety of teaching methods and curricular perspectives, including teaching from an online platform. The teaching load will consist of 12 credit hours of courses each semester.
Job Summary
Teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels using various instructional deliveries (e.g., traditional (face-to-face), hybrid, and fully online). To foster applied learning into the course design and engage with industry and local business community applied projects. To advance knowledge through scholarly activities (e.g., active involvement in committees, student mentorship, recruitment and retention initiative, outreach activities, etc.)
Essential Functions
Establishing key objectives for classes\ Creating curriculum that accomplishes the set objectives\ Developing a syllabus that outlines topics that will be explored and listing due dates for assignments and exams\ Giving lectures and organizing activities to present material and deepen understanding of coursework\ Answering student\'s questions and providing support to help them succeed
Job Duties
1. The teaching load will be 4 courses in fall semester and 4 courses in spring semester, all of which are 3-credits.\ 2. Mainly teach required and elective classes for the Economics program (which includes but not limited to Principles of Microeconomics, Principles of\ Macroeconomics, and Introduction to Business Statistics).\ 3. Candidates will teach both face to face and other instructional modalities (online, blended) and engage with the local businesses and the larger\ community to provide applied learning opportunities for the students\ 4. Candidates are expected to engage in different service activities at the department, college, university, profession, and local community.\ 5. Candidates are expected to contribute to the college\'s AACSB accreditation.
Required Education and Experience:
- Graduate level degree or higher in direct or closely related field
- Teaching experience
Faculty Requirements
Qualified candidates must hold a masters degree in economics or a closely related area.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Evidence of teaching/training effectiveness (e.g., evaluations)
- Evidence of technical and soft skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Preference will be given to candidates with graduate degrees from anAACSB accredited institution that have teaching interests in Economics.
- Teaching or training experience in Economics, or related subjects, at a university level
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
