GDIT is looking for an EHR Clinical Implementation Lead to support our Indian Health Service (IHS) customer on an Electronic Health Record (EHR) modernization program. This is a key leadership role on a long-term opportunity and our success depends on an experienced EHR Clinical Implementation Lead joining our team.

  • Coordinate and supervise the activities of clinical team members engaged in clinical care for patients collaborating with clinicians, and specialist for the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease.

  • Organize and assign duties and tasks to clinical team members, for design and build of clinical systems across the EHR.

  • Establish clinical team member work schedule updates, monthly and Clinical Services as needed. Establish provider schedules monthly.

  • Monitor daily performance of clinical team members to ensure duties are completed accurately, efficiently and timely from implementation planning through deployment and adoption of the EHR for clinician use.

  • Review and correct timesheets, review and respond to time off requests and coordinate utilization by members of the clinical EHR team.

  • Maintain attendance controller records and send to Human Resources department monthly.

  • Assist with interviews. Conduct orientation and training on IHS clinical policies and procedures.

  • Identify and recommend clinical solutions to clinical team member and office issues or problems.

  • Ensure high quality clinical care for patients by reviewing and researching concerns or complaints and recommending corrective action as appropriate.

  • Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization.

  • Implement applications, tools, and processes that assist clinicians with the management of data in patient care and the provision of health care.

  • Maintains changes to referential data, across clinical applications assigned.

  • Assist with application implementation and system customization including the development of alerts/hard stops, data integration, order generation, automation of document entry and enforcement of adherence to workflows.

  • Provide technical support, diagnosis of application errors and troubleshooting with system issues.

  • Interpret, modify, analyze and design clinical systems, data and information.

  • Design and implement educational and clinical services programs; support end-user training.

  • Facilitate clinical content team – work with physicians, nurses, pharmacists and other health care professionals to evaluate current EHR functionality and develop future applications by building consensus and using efficient decision-making processes.

  • Recommends innovative ideas, processes, and/or procedures for enhancements, additions, and modifications to improve existing systems.

  • Assist with the configuration and setup of new users within the clinical systems as they relate to the EHR.

  • Researches patient data across multiple applications to resolve discrepancies and/or improve work flow.

  • Serves as a resource person for daily operational issues within the electronic health record.

  • Work with other members of the team to implement solutions to system related problems to minimize operational impact.

  • Manage and lead the development, implementation and ongoing maintenance of Meaningful Use within the facility.

  • Monitor and report quality data as related to the EHR and clinical software applications

  • Identify and recommend policies and procedures as needed to ensure quality, compliance, accuracy and cost efficiency.

  • Assist medical assistants, nurses and providers with maintaining patient flow to ensure patients are seen timely and efficiently.

  • Assist with or conduct periodic staff meetings with clinical team members.

  • Attend clinical meetings and relay pertinent information to clinical team members.

  • Attend initial Cerner EHR training & periodic training sessions.

  • Maintain certification or medical professional licensure.

  • Maintain excellent communication and effective working relationships with providers, clinical and clerical team members across IHS medical institutions, beneficiaries, public and the medical community for continuity of high quality patient care.

  • Maintain effective working relationships with all IHS medical departments, ancillary services, disciplines and specialties to include and not limited to the design, implementation planning, build, and training – Initial requirements, and then management of iterative roll out of the EHR across rural, urban and suburban sites.

  • Work at different GDIT, Cerner & IHS office locations as needed.

  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology.

  • Knowledge of Healthcare Information Technology Standards Panel (HITSP) for integration & interoperability open standards

  • Knowledge of medical / clinical principles, standards, applications and tests.

  • Knowledge of medical facility safety, cleanliness and infection control policies and regulations.

  • Knowledge of medical office equipment, medical device uses and clinically relevant maintenance.

  • Accuracy – Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.

  • Computer Skills – Proficient ability to use a computer and EHR.

Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and 3+ years of applicable healthcare experience is required or 7+ years of directly applicable healthcare experience without a degree is required.

  • Degree in Healthcare and/or Information Sciences highly desirable

  • Medical terminology and understanding of workflows is critical.

  • Must be proficient and have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.).

  • Knowledge of Cerner program software is highly preferred

  • Knowledge of Indian Health Service software (RPMS EHR) is preferred but not required.
