Where do you fit?

To be a successfulEngagement Specialist you must become able to do the following always:

  1. Ensure a trauma informed focus on creating a safe and supportive environment for staff and those served through knowledge, sensitivity, respect, and a focus on resilience and recovery.
  2. The Engagement Specialist is to be part of a team that assists children and Families with the basic services in supports of the childs Permanency Goal at the beginning of the case at referral.
  3. Engagement Specialist are mandated reporters.
  4. They are to receive training in trauma informed practice and incorporate knowledge in day-to-day practice.
  5. Ability to work with minimal direction and supervision.
  6. Have the ability to work flexible schedule, including on call or after hours to serve the children and families that we work with.
  7. Consistently exercise discretion and independent judgement in performance of duties in conformance with applicable policies, procedures, statues, rules, and regulations to the agency as well as the Department of Children and Family Services.
  8. Staff would need to be able to travel throughout the state as needed for this position where children are placed.
  9. This position requires the ability to demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills.
  10. Have an understanding of family centered practice, genograms, ecomaps, and social histories.
  11. Understand the stages and needs of child and adolescent development.
  12. Must be a team player and have the ability to handle multiple priorities under time restraints.
  13. Independent discretion/decision making within the scope and responsibility of the position.
  14. Collaborate with agencies, community and stakeholders within the court system and the Department of Children and Family Services.
  15. Be able to work independently and handle stress appropriately.
  16. Follow Company Policy and Procedure and operate according to the Companys Program Practice Guidelines.

How you will spend your time in this job:

  • 50% Providing direct services.
  • 20% Collaboration
  • 30% Planning, initial assessing and completing initial paperwork and assessments.

Requirements

To qualify for this job, you need to have:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent required, bachelors degree in human services related field preferred.
  2. Experience in child welfare and/or mental health services required
  3. 21 years of age. Must pass a background check, fingerprinting, and physical and drug screening.
  4. Maintain company-required training.
  5. Physical working requirements - Ability to travel, driving company or personal vehicle including at night. Ability to do occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs. Able to walk stairs. Ability to work flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends. Employees are subject to outside environmental conditions occasionally, inside conditions frequently, with protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature change.
