In your role, you will:
Adhere to General Work Requirements
Identify required chemical deliveries/pick-ups and properly load/unload corresponding equipment and materials
Pick-up and/or deliver hazardous/nonhazardous waste solids and liquids and ensure all loads are properly secured and protected
Dispose or store hazardous/nonhazardous waste solids and liquids in accordance with applicable governmental regulations
Assist with emptying, cleaning, and refilling hazardous chemical tanks as directed by Quality Assurance Laboratory
Perform routine environmental inspections of, for example, hazardous waste collection and storage areas, degreaser equipment, monitoring wells, and air pollution equipment in accordance with applicable governmental regulations
Assist with reporting and/or performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and/or repairing mechanical components of environmental control systems, for example, sprinkler, security, and waste water systems
Assist with providing emergency response, remedial action, and clean-up of hazardous waste, chemicals, and/or fuel products
Respond to hazardous material spills or fires and render emergency medical aid
Assist with monitoring waste water flow and obtaining required samples to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations
Assist in performing sampling and limited testing of industrial waste, air, and groundwater and soils for contamination
Perform and/or report required preventive maintenance on environmental control equipment, machinery, and instruments as required
Maintain and update hazardous/nonhazardous activity logs to ensure complete documentation for required company and regulatory reports
Assist other employees in the performance of their duties within area(s) of qualification
Qualifications
As our ideal candidate,
You typically have 2 years’ experience in environmental or hazardous material handling
You have a valid Class C Drivers License
You have basic mechanical skills
You have the ability to read and interpret material safety data sheets (MSDS) and chemical warning labels and instructions
You have basic knowledge applicable Federal, State, and Local Governmental regulations pertaining to hazardous waste, industrial waste water, and air quality standards, for example, DOT, OSHA, IATA, EPA, and NFPA
You must be able to complete a minimum of 40 hours of training including all training pertaining to hazardous waste handling within 6 months from original date of hire into classification
