\ Overview / Job Summary:\ The primary responsibility of an instructor is to provide the coordination, planning, preparation, presentation, and evaluation of classroom instruction and related activities. The instructor is responsible for performing assigned duties during the day, evening, or weekend on any Wichita State University Campus of Applied Sciences & Technology (WSU Tech) campus/off-campus locations as assigned. This position is also responsible for oversite of the restaurant incubator space, Flex, which students will operate on a rotating basis as part of the Food Business Management curriculum, working alongside the Practicum Chef for culinary consultation.\ \ Your day-to-dayresponsibilitieswill vary, but are not limited to:\

  • Creates and/or uploads an appropriate course syllabus for each course to the Learning Management System.
  • Keeps students informed and updated concerning course content, requirements, evaluation procedures and attendance requirements.
  • Maintains accurate and complete scholastic records, including but not limited to course messaging in the LMS, grades, census rosters and attendance records.
  • Submits all scholastic records by the established due date.
  • Maintains industry credentials as appropriate to the teaching area.
  • Develops, revises, and/or recommends curriculum changes which meet the objectives of the course/program and improve student learning.

Utilizing college resources like Navigate, Bb grade center, and Bb course messaging ensures students receive timely feedback on their progress. Additionally, maintaining and posting office hours provides opportunities for student consultation, contributing to a minimum of 40 contact hours per week. Moreover, overseeing and managing students during classroom and laboratory activities ensures a safe and effective learning environment.\ \ Education:

  • Certified Culinary Educator with ACF or Certified Chef or Associates degree in Culinary or related discipline; Bachelorspreferred.

Preferred Requirements:

  • ServSafe Managers Certificate or ability to obtain before the semester begins.
  • Minimum exp. 7 years food service management experience, restaurant managementpreferred.
  • Both FOH and BOH experiencepreferred
  • Previous teaching or training experience in adult educationpreferred.
  • Previous experience with Toast POSpreferred.
  • Restaurant finance experience

  • Must be available for required course assignments.
  • Excellent verbal & written communication and interpersonal skills must be able to work with students, technical and administrative personnel in a pleasant, professional, and efficient manner.
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Strong menu development background
  • Experience opening new res aurant concepts.
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
  • Ability to use personal computer and software applications, strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
