Description

JOB SUMMARY:

The Flight Test Engineer will be involved in performance, flying qualities, and systems flight testing of Textron Aviation jet and propeller aircraft. Testing includes the development and certification of existing and new types of aircraft. Some travel will be required.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Research U.S. and foreign regulatory requirements, develop test procedures, write flight test plans, analyze flight data, and write test reports

  • Work with various groups within Product Engineering to develop systems flight test procedures and pass/fail criteria

  • Conduct performance, flying qualities and systems flight testing by working with flight crews via telemetry station and on-board during flight tests

  • Participate in the development and improvement of flight test processes and tools

  • Support development and certification activities as a subject matter expert (SME)

Qualifications

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required in Aerospace Engineering, Avionics Engineering, or relative field

  • Current ODA UM or FAA DER (flight analyst), and or military experience preferred

  • Minimum 2 years of flight test experience working on FAA part 23 or 25 projects, including knowledge of aircraft development and certification process/techniques required

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Computer skills: Proficient with MS Office. Visual Basic is a plus

  • Some flight test engineering experience preferred

  • Some knowledge of aircraft development and certification processes and techniques preferred
