Applies herbicides to noxious and common weeds; participates in grounds maintenance and snow/ice removal procedures.

Performs property inspections; mixes, handles, and applies herbicides to noxious and common weeds in a manner that is safe, effective and efficient.

  • Inspects, surveys, maps and reports weed infestations on properties
  • Mixes, loads and applies pesticides in accordance with the products label and safety data sheets.
  • Properly records and reports herbicide applications
  • Competently and safely drives and operates all equipment necessary to perform these tasks. This equipment includes spray trucks, all terrain, and utility task vehicles.

Participates in grounds maintenance activities

  • Mow, trims, edges, and maintains county right of way and bike paths.
  • Cultivates, seeds, fertilizes and applies mulch or erosion control on road right of way, drain, stream, bridge and private property restoration.
  • Trims and /or removes trees and brush on county properties.
  • Treats right of ways, concrete medians, county yards and other properties with long term control herbicides.
  • Competently and safely drives and operates all equipment necessary to perform these maintenance activities. This equipment includes tractors, loaders, and ride on mowers.

Participates in snow and ice removal operation procedures

  • Operates a dump truck with blade and spreader to clear roads of snow and ice.
  • Operates loader to load material for snow and ice removal.
  • Maintains equipment in good condition.
  • Ensures equipment is cleaned, fueled and loaded for following shift.
  • Trouble shoot and reports problems immediately to shift supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or Equivalent. 6 months of Pest Control experience. Commercial Pesticide Applicators License in any category. Kansas Commercial Drivers License Class B with Air Brake endorsement or ability to acquire within 6 months of employment.

Preferred Qualifications: One year commercial pest control, turf pesticide applications or similar activity. Kansas Commercial Pesticide Applicators License in Category 9A (Noxious Weeds)
