Work Schedule: Tues - Fri, 8:30am - 5:30pm; Sat 7:00am - 4:00pm


To receive, classify and package materials delivered to the county household hazardous waste collection program for proper disposal.




Receive Hazardous & Non-Hazardous Items at HHW Facility


+ Unload materials (hazardous & non-hazardous) from vehicles, while providing satisfactory customer service to all that are encountered


+ Record, process, and store materials in their correct D.O.T. hazard class.


+ Operate packing/storing, recycling, transportation and other equipment used in handling household hazardous waste.


+ Prepare items for shipment for disposal per D.O.T. & KDHE requirements.


Facility Maintenance


+ Performs routine and basic maintenance on the facility and equipment.


+ Clean the facility according to the set schedule of duties.


Maintain Proper Certifications & Skills


+ Ensure all certifications are valid as well-being current and up to date annually.


+ Attend advanced training and schooling and/or seminars that are job pertinent.


+ Ability to understand and follow oral & written instructions.


+ Ability to safely handle household & business hazardous waste.




Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent. Minimal experience in handling household hazardous waste or any equivalent. Valid State of Kansas Driver’s License.




Preferred Qualifications: Forty hour Haz-Woper, Forklift Certification, Standard First Aid, & CPR
