Job Summary:
In a team environment, provide face to face crisis intervention and pre-admission assessments in the community to those experiencing a behavioral health crisis. Includes performing clinical assessments for individuals who present as a danger to self or others within the community. Will respond to all appropriate Integrated Care Team (ICT 2-5) requests in a timely manner, deploying as a team with the Wichita Police Department (WPD) to incidents where the services of a behavioral health professional may be more effective in addressing the incident. Support suicide prevention efforts in the community while upholding the mission and vision of COMCARE of Sedgwick County.
Direct Service:
- Participate in ICT 2-5 calls in person, accompanying and assisting the ICT 2-5 team members.
- Conduct mental health assessments in the community to determine a patients immediate mental health needs.
- Complete risk assessments.
- Provide brief focused therapy to address the immediate mental health needs of patients who present as currently dangerous.
- Initiates outreach to increase engagement.
- Answering crisis telephone lines as needed.
- Assess current level of dangerousness for patients using the Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale. Will also use an evidenced based triage system for level of response/engagement for de-escalation and safety planning.
- Contact service providers to request and arrange services; coordinate and monitor services rendered.
- Create and initiate plans to ensure patients attend mental health appointments.
- Support the clinical staff in the community by assisting with Mobile Crisis Unit requests.
- Transport patients to the hospital when necessary.
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Documentation:
- Complete all progress notes in the electronic medical record (EMR) in accordance with CCBHC and COMCARE guidelines.
- Documentation meets minimum Medicaid standards.
- Completes in the EMR Notes for Record, precautions, authorization for release of records, releases of information safety documents, and other documentation.
- Assessment tools are to be accurate and completed within the timeframe established.
- Monitor treatment plans and update.
- Respond to Utilization Review staff feedback forms.
- Enter AIMS data as needed and respond to AIMS data staff in a timely manner.
- Completes court reports or treatment summaries.
Specialized Activities:
- Coordinate and/or assist with a special program or project.
- Project assignment may include but not be limited to competency evaluations, stress trauma assistance team, crisis assessment program for seniors, mobile crisis unit, or the collection and dissemination of data collected from local agencies.
- Coordinate admission to appropriate level of care.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Masters Degree.
- Per Sedgwick County policy, this is a driving level position that requires a valid US drivers license without restrictions and current proof of automobile insurance.
- Must be able to safely operate a motor vehicle and meet driver qualification standards as set forth in Sedgwick Countys Fleet Vehicle Operation and Usage policy.
- Must be licensed by the Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board as an LMSW, LMFT, LMLP, LCP or LP.
- Meet the specifications as outlined in the CMHC/CCBHC licensing standards and pass KBI, DCF child abuse check, adult abuse registry, and motor vehicle screens.
- Must complete orientations and training provided by Sedgwick County and COMCARE.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Three years as a QMHP in a mental health setting.
- May be linically licensed by the Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board as an LCP or LCPC, LCMFT, or LSCSW.
