Position Summary:This position is responsible for litigation and representation on behalf of the agency, legal advice and consultation, records review, staff communications, development and training.
It requires extensive legal knowledge in a wide variety of areas including Child Protective Services, Adult Protective Services, Employment and Economic Services, Rehabilitation Services and employment law. This position will be responsible for legal research and litigation in trial courts as well as appeals before the Office of Administrative Hearings. Attorneys are responsible for rendering legal services and providing legal advice on matters to DCF program staff, managers and leadership in a timely manner. This position works collaboratively with adult and child protection specialist staff on serious cases of abuse/neglect. In addition, the attorney works with adult protection specialists on determinations of when petitions for guardianship should be filed. This position also reviews DCF record requests and takes appropriate action.
