Textron Manufacturing Engineer in Wichita, Kansas

Manufacturing Engineer


_ Multiple positions within ACC, Assembly, Composites, Components Mfg, Supply Chain and Interiors_ .


Analyzesproduct designs to determine the manufacturability of components, assemblies and tooling. Provides technical guidance in the solution of manufacturing difficulties or improvements. Conducts methods and systems studies to improve effectiveness in manufacturing areas. Researches, improves and cost justifies manufacturing techniques, processes and procedures to reduce costs while maintainingsafety, quality, andschedules.Ensures that all Process Planning is correct in defining the build process.


  1. Work as defined by applicable policies and procedures, work instructions, departmental guidelines and as assigned by supervision.

  2. Collaborates with Engineering on desired production tooling and build-plan methodology and gives input/feedback on associated design criteria; analyzes engineering design to determine manufacturability and producibility of components and assemblies

  3. Cross functional manufacturing manufacturing knowledge to determines manufacturing processes, tooling methodology, stack-up of tolerance analysis interconnecting multiple drawings, discrete manufacturing operations to be used to produce new parts/assemblies from detail component fabrication thru job-level installation; authors and maintains process plans for shop floor methods/work instructions

  4. SAP trouble-shooting and expert in manufacturing SAP bench

  5. Mantain manufacturing Bill Of Material (MBOM) to enable MRP processes for order release, scheduling, and purchased component sourcing activities.

  6. Write and maintain integrity:

  7. Routings and Planning for details, sub-assemblies, and assemblies

  8. Bills of material and material masters

  9. Maintain variant configurator data

  10. Master recipe and rework dispositions

  11. Tool Work Order and sketches

  12. Rework , One Time Only’s and COSA’s

  13. Provides technical guidance to initiate and drive Root Cause / Corrective Action (RCCA), Failure mode analysis for manufacturing prevention, advanced error-proofing using engineering tolerance, on production issues related to engineering design, material, tooling, specifications and processes.

  14. Analyzes/Interprets engineering drawing, manufacturing operation sequence, tooling function, and process specifications and issues engineeringdrawingchange requests (EDCR) to improve or eliminate manufacturing issues in sustaining production operations

  15. ENOVIA and CATIA trouble-shooting

  16. Advanced MS Office knowledge to collect data, deep analysis in spreadsheets, presentations

  17. Analyzes and lead facility improvement projects and recommendations regarding production facility arrangements for improvements to production capacity, manufacturing flow, new model incorporation, and strategic work transitions, including Capital planning and justification.

  18. Works with cross-functional personnel to analyze and solve production flow issues stemming from sequence of work, balance of tasks, tooling/equipment constraints, and manpower allocation/training

  • Bachelor’s degree requiredMechanicalEngineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering Technology,Electrical Engineeringor closely related degree.

  • Preferred experience within an engineering discipline and/or continuous improvement/lean/project management methodologies.


  • Ability to support analytical and practical problem solving/process improvement

  • High intellectual horsepower to bring together concepts, data, and distribution practices quickly

  • Effective communicator with demonstrated abilities to pull teams together quickly
