The Commodity Position Manager is responsible for the transformation, leadership and execution of position reporting processes for commodities in the Protein group. This role partners with traders, merchants, and commercial leads to clarify roles for commodity risk policy compliance, to identify and capture commodity risks in the position, and to manage the daily mark-to-market/P&L reporting processes. This position works closely with the Risk Management Group to understand commodity risk requirements and ensure complete and accurate commodity position reporting. This role assesses the position and related market risk to escalate exposures to stakeholders and supports the business with position and financial information for commodity risk limit requests. This position partners with Accounting & Reporting to reconcile the accounting P&L to the trader estimate, validate prices used in inventory valuation, and ensure that commodity risks are accurately presented in the financial statements. This position drives alignment and optimization for top-quartile processes across One A&F and reviews process controls for proper design and consistent execution. This role requires highly effective talent management and change leadership skills to build and develop a high-performing team that is business and market focused and process aligned.

Principal Accountabilities:

40% Ensure Accurate and Timely Commodity Position Reporting

  • Develop the approach to ensure well-controlled and accurate commodity position data, process, and reporting for Protein group commodities

  • Analyze market prices and commodity position data and information to ensure accurate reporting to stakeholders

  • Deliver timely and accurate daily mark-to-market/P&L reporting to trading and merchandising teams

  • Provide timely and accurate commodity position reporting to the Risk Management Group

  • Engage with trading, merchandising, and commercial leads, to clarify risks and escalate risk exposures in the position

  • Collaborate with the FRM Transaction Risk Lead to identify risk in new structures or agreements for proper capture in the position reporting

  • Partner with Accounting & Reporting to reconcile the accounting P&L to trader estimate, validate prices used in inventory valuation, and ensure that commodity risks are accurately presented in the financial statements

  • Support the MI-DS domain on commodity position data and information requests

  • Clarify trading, commercial and FRM responsibilities to ensure compliance with corporate commodity risk reporting policies

  • Monitor commodity position process metrics for top-quartile service delivery and to identify optimization opportunities

35% Lead and Develop People

25% Optimize Commodity Position Reporting Processes

  • Work closely with the FRM Process Senior Analyst to align commodity position reporting processes across business groups and commodities

  • Partner with the Process Improvement domain to implement top quartile processes

  • Define data standards for efficient and standardized data capture and reporting

  • Ensure proper process control design

  • Partner with the Commodity & Derivatives Risk Lead and Analyst for effective commodity and derivative operational processes

  • Communicate process and reporting changes for effective stakeholder engagement



  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Position reporting experience

  • Mark-to-market technical knowledge and understanding of risk evaluation for financial reporting purposes

  • Proven ability to identify and assess risk

  • Demonstrated change agility and change management skills

  • Highly effective people leadership skills which motivates for high performance

  • Demonstrated ability to create a team culture of continuous improvement, process optimization, and intellectual curiosity

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Ability to communicate, influence and build trust with stakeholders

  • Proven accounting/finance leader with strong problem solving and analytical skills

  • English proficiency

  • Ability to travel up to 10%


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or Mathematics

  • 7 years of accounting or finance experience in leadership and business partnering positions, including minimum of 2 years of commodity or financial trading business experience

  • Risk management framework application

  • Understanding and experience in SAP, Protein contact systems, or other similar systems

  • Exposure to multiple businesses
